Peter Borner, managing director, Axispoint
Central Milton Keynes-based Axispoint is a subsidiary of a large US company and specialises in software development
projects, business process management and systems and infrastructure. It delivers business change and technology
solutions, focusing on providing clients with dynamic IT strategies and systems that increase the value of the IT
leadership and function.
Axispoint relocated from central London to Milton Keynes in July 2008. Managing director Peter Borner
explains: “There were cost factors involved in our relocation but one of our main reasons for moving to Milton Keynes
was to give our employees a better lifestyle. Dragging people into central London wasn’t good. Also, we wanted to give
our employees somewhere comfortable and fun to work and this was tough to achieve in London. I’ve lived in Newport
Pagnell for 25 years so I know this area well and knew Milton Keynes would be ideal.”
Fifteen people are employed at Axispoint – and 13 of them live in Milton Keynes. It’s a young workforce
consisting mostly of software developers, business analysts and project managers aged between 25 and 35. “Axispoint
employees have moved from places like Derby, Leicester and London to Milton Keynes - and they all like it here. A
couple of people live in thehub:mk development and with its dynamic mix of apartments, offices, bars and restaurants
they find it a vibrant place to be - plus there’s the bonus of it only being two minutes from work,” says Peter.
Axispoint plans to take on 14 more people over the next two years and already has the space to accommodate
them. “We have no problems recruiting people with the right qualifications and experience in Milton Keynes,” says
Peter.

Peter likes to network and enjoys being active in the local community. For example, he belongs to the
Federation of Small Businesses and the Milton Keynes branch of the Institute of Directors. He is delighted that
Axispoint has recently won its first Milton Keynes-based client – a serviced office company with more than 50 offices
throughout the UK. Axispoint is providing technology to allow the company to create wireless hotspots in its meeting
rooms – helping it increase revenue and reduce management overheads.
Peter concludes: “Having so many other IT-based companies in Milton Keynes adds to our credibility. The
communications routes are great and we can get into and out of London and Birmingham quickly by train or car. We
have clients as far afield as North Yorkshire so the easy travel from here is a real bonus. We’re happy in Milton Keynes
and plan to stay here.”
