Penang State Museum. Learn about the Straits settlement history and rich heritage of Penang.
(NOTE: Museum is closed every Fridays and Public Holidays.)
Trishaw Ride. Board local trishaw for a ride through old section of Georgetown. Disembark
from trishaws and continue the journey by coach to Clan Piers-a Chinese Water Village built on
stilts, extending out into a sea. The place is known as the Clan piers because each of the jetties
is named after a different Chinese Clan. It is a residential area with a very strong community
feel. Seven fisher folks clan have lived here on the wooden jetties for generations. The
properties here are also home to the hundreds of harbor worker and their families who can not
move anywhere else because of the high cost of land.
Khoo Kongsi Temple. This clan temple is probably the most celebrated historic in Penang.
“Khoo” is the name of the Chinese family clan whilst “kongsi” means partnership or a guild set
up by immigrant Chinese groups. This temple seen here was the 2nd to be built after was razed in
a fire. It was built in 1906, and is monument of Chuan Chew architecture, which is apparently
more elaborate than anything built in even in China of the period style. This courtyard was used
in a gripping execution scene in the 2000 movie “Anna and the King” starring Josie Foster and
Chow Yuen-Fatt.
Wat Chayamankalaram. Visit Wat Chayamankalaram-which houses the world’s third largest
reclining buddha.

Wat Chayamankalaram.Visit Wat Chayamankalaram, which houses the world’s third largest
reclining buddha (which measures 33 meters in length and is draped in golden- leafed saffron
and reclines on a large crematorium). This Buddhist temple is reminiscent of Bangkok’s many
wats. The intricate finish of the interior in vibrant colors and designs is a sample of Thai
architecture. As this temple, the local Thais celebrate the traditional Buddhist festivals, the
Songkran and the Loy Krathong. Also visit the Dhammikarama Burmese temple, which was
founded in 1805. The Stupa and Sima Hall feature several early painting.

Kek Lok Si Temple. Proceed to Kek Lok Si Temple – one of the fineset Buddhist temple in
South East Asia, which stands majestically on a hill. Built in tiers, the temple culminates with
the beautifully crafted (Pagoda of Ten Thousand Buddhas”. Taking more than 20 years to build,
the temple is set against beautiful scenic surroundings. There are many stalls selling trinkets and
souvenirs along the path to the temple.

Snake Temple. Visit the Snake Temple, which was built around 1850 in memory of a
Buddhist priest and healer Chor soo Kong. Legend has it that upon the completion of the

temple, snakes mysteriously appeared, making it their refuge ever since. These poisonous
pit-vipers are said to be the servants’ of deify and can be seen coiled around the pillars,
beams and potted plants within the temple. They are believed to be rendered harmless by
the smoke of the burning incense. However, with the development of the surrounding area,
a few snakes remain at the temple.

nutmeg and cloves, etc. There will be a short stopover at a Malay village.
Batik Factory. Visit Batik Factory and witness the traditional technique of batik printing
using wax and dyes.

Tour starts from Cruise Terminal to visit Pinang Peranakan Mansion – the typical home of a rich
Baba of a century ago is reflected to offer a glimpse of their opulent lifestyle and of their many
customs and traditions. With over 1000 species of antiques and collectibles of the ear on
display, this Baba-Nyoma museum is also housed in one of Penang’s heritage mansion of
electric design and architecture. After that, we will walk to Lebuh Pitt (Street Harmony) – St.
George’s Church, Kuan Yin Temple, Mariamman Temple (outside only) and Kapitan Keling
Mosque. Will continue walk down to Little India – sari shops, spices shop.
Tea break at Indian Restaurant (taste the tea tarik, samosa and other local delicacies).

Do It Yourself Batik - without meal (VPEN-12L)

Batik Factory. Visit the factory then have a briefing on how to make Batik. Show the
guests how to wax the cloth and paint the color. The participants will paint by themselves.
Once finished in painting, leave it to dry before packing. A glass of fruit juice of choice will
be served. Meanwhile, participants will be taken for sightseeing at the Botanical Gardens
then return to pick-up the finished product.

Teluk Bahang National Park HQ. Participants are picked up by bus at PICT Cruise
Terminal. Briefing will be done onboard the bus about the Eco tour, and what can be
expected. Participants reach Teluk Bahang National Park HQ and board a boat to begin the
tour. Tour begins with trail interpretation onboard boat: 1 eco tour guide assigned per boat.

Trawling line/s are spooled out behind the boat. Eagle/raptor watch and trail interpretation,
participants are asked to take notice of wildlife like monkeys, monitor lizards and
occasionally, sea otters in the area. Pass through Crocodile Rock, Turtle Rock, and Rabbit
Rock (unique rock formations that look like these animals).
Pantai Kerachut. Reach Pantai Kerachut turtle sanctuary. Visit turtle sanctuary, explore
beach trail interpretation, especially the unique quality of sand on beach that attracts the
turtles to come and lay their eggs here. Explore meromicitic lake.
Monkey Beach. Reach Monkey Beach. Rest and relax while exploring the beach. Hunt for
unique multi-colored shells, siput lala, sea snails (tide permitting).

Penang Hill. Arrival at the foothill and transfer by rail to the upper station. Arrival at the
upper station, guided tour of Penang Hill to visit Aviary Ginger Garden – The aviary garden
of Bellevue has collections of rare species of birds, fauna, herbs plat. You can also explore
the Nature Lodge.
Afternoon Tea. Afternoon tea will be provided at Penang Hill, Hotel Bellevue – A colonial
building of more than 160 years old. (Penang Hill famous chicken pie or vegetarian pie,
vegetarian spring rolls, samosa, egg sandwiches, mixed fruits, sago gula Melaka and
coffee/tea will be served for high tea).
Botanical Garden. Depart upper station for foothill. Upon arrival, board coach transfer to
Botanical Garden. Stroll through the main gardens. Learn about the rare species of flora and
fauna while monkey’s foam freely in their natural habitats.
