FSUS SAMPLE Course Outline - Fall 2009
Adapting the Sample FSUS Course Outline for Your Syllabus
The sample FSUS Course Outline is provided as a guide for planning your course activities. You are welcome to
adapt it to meet the needs of your seminar class. There are two areas, in particular, that will require your editing
before attaching the outline to your syllabus:
Dates
The suggested outline contains date ranges for each week of the semester. You may want to change the dates to
match the days your class meets. For example, the dates for 09F Wednesday classes would be Week 1 - Sept 2,
Week 2 - Sept 9, Week 3 - Sept 16, etc.
Suggested Activities
Please be sure to remove duplicate activity dates that do not pertain to your class.
For example:
FLITE library tours are listed multiple times. If you have scheduled a tour for Week 4, delete all FLITE
tour references except the one on Week 4.
Sex and the College Student: There are multiple presentations scheduled for the semester.
If you want your entire class to attend one presentation as a group, leave that date on
the schedule and delete all others. (NOTE: if you choose to attend as a group, you may
want to pick up a block of tickets for your class from the Williams box office.)
If you would like to give your students the choice of which session to attend, leave all
presentation dates on the outline.
Finally, please feel free to add additional out-of-class activities or instances where your class meets in a location
other than the regular classroom.
