A Talk time
Strong and weak pronunciations for auxiliary verbs
The auxiliary verbs like do, does, have, has, were
and was have strong and weak pronunciations.

                         2
               Things to remember:
When we ask questions or make statements, we usually
stress the main verb and give the auxiliary verb a weak
pronunciation. When we give short answers to questions,
we usually stress the auxiliary verb and give it a strong
 pronunciation.
    /həv/ /həv/
— I have got a guitar. Have you got one?
         /hæv/ /hæznt/
— Yes, I have, but Joe hasn’t.

                            3
