Rewards Afternoon
On Friday the 23rd of January we held our first Rewards Ceremony. Using our new pupil data tracking system, we identified the highest
achieving pupils in each year group and also those that had shown the ‘best attitude towards learning’ in each year group. In total 72 pupils
and their parents were invited and the pupils received a certificate and gift from Ms Quaile. It was a very pleasant afternoon and both pupils
and parents enjoyed the event and the buffet that followed.
Future Rewards Ceremonies will be held to acknowledge and praise the hard work and achievements of our pupils.

Level 2 Cope Awards
34 of our current year 11 pupils have successfully completed the Level 2 Cope Awards. They have worked really hard to achieve this
with lots of additional time put in through their own dedication and commitment. One of the challenges that was moderated and
given outstanding feedback was the work our “Young Engineers” had produced. Well done to all the candidates that took part.

SCHOOLS
Being in the Eco School Council is a privilege. So far we have done bulb planting to make
the school and the local area more colourful, litter picking just outside the school gates and
we have asked for more bins outside the school. We’ve done all of this to raise money to
do more things inside the school. Just recently we visited a Mosque
with some other students. We have learnt a lot from our experiences,
if you wish to join us,
please see Mr Hudson.
(Linzi Hattersley)
Global Dimensions
As a follow up to the December ‘Stop the Clock day’ two colleagues, Kantu Wilfred (head
teacher) and Mr Bernard (fine arts and PE teacher) from Nyakasura, our partner school
in Uganda visited us in March this year. Plans were made for further staff exchanges
to prepare for pupil exchanges in the future. Curriculum plans to further include global
dimensions into our curriculum were also made. Mr Wilfred brought pen pal letters with
him that many of our pupils have taken copies of and are in the process of writing and
receiving letters from pupils in Nyakasura. Letters are available from Miss Barber & Mr
Crooks (English) and Mr Hudson.
I wrote a letter to a school in Uganda looking for a penpal. A few weeks later I received
a letter from a 16 year old boy called John Mugisa. When I received the letter I was
shocked because I wasn’t expecting someone to reply to my letter. Once I had read
the letter I had found out so many wonderful things about where he lived and his
hobbies it was the most fantastic thing I have ever read. So straight away I started writing a letter back,
now we are best friends. If you would like an opportunity like this please go and see Mr Hudson, go on
take a chance.
