COURSE NAME: AFJROTC DRILL AND CEREMONIES
CREDIT HOURS: One Half (.5) Elective Credit per Semester

COURSE DESCRIPTION: The Drill and Ceremonies course provides fundamental and in-depth instruction in Air
Force drill and ceremonies. The Drill and Ceremonies course concentrates on the elements of military drill, and
describes individual and group precision movements, procedures for saluting, drill, ceremonies, reviews, parades,
and development of command voice. Students are provided detailed instruction on ceremonial performances and
protocol for civilian and military events and have the opportunity to personally learn Air Force drill concepts and
procedures. Coursework will be a combination of instruction, practice, demonstration, competition and
completion of workbook assignments.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
After successfully completing Drill and Ceremonies Course, the cadet will be able to:
1. Know preparatory and supplemental commands
2. Demonstrate proper command voice while commanding a flight
3. Demonstrate proper execution of individual drill movements
4. Demonstrate proper execution of regulation drill movements as part of a flight formation
5. Demonstrate proper Color Guard movements and routines
6. Perform synchronized movements as part of an exhibition drill routine
GRADING: Cadets receive a Pass or Fail grade based on participation (no fewer than two unexcused absences in
scheduled classes per semester) and completion of three units of the Drill and Ceremonies of workbook per
semester.
NOTE: Cadets enrolled in Drill and Ceremonies Course must be concurrently enrolled in a standard AFJROTC class.
