I believe that children are the future and we as teachers need to encourage them to be
respectable and successful adults. It is a teacher’s job to help guide students to do their best in
whatever they love to do. It is my job to help teach children educational and social skills that are
needed in the workforce world. It is my job to determine the needs of each of the students in my
class and to help each of them fulfill that need the best way that I can.
The two educational theories that best describes the approach of my teaching are
humanism and constructivism. I agree with Jean-Jacques Rousseau, in that we are all born with
goodness and that as we get older we are taught to become evil. My goal is to learn what each
child’s interest and needs are and to make my lesson plans to enhance those interest and needs.
Everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion. Even a child has a right to make his/her own
decisions about issues. I also emphasize the constructivism theory in my teaching. I base my
lesson plans around activities that are hands-on. It is important that the children explore,
discover, and answer their own questions.
I do believe that students need to take some kind of test to see what they have learned. I
don’t agree with all of the standardized test that rate student’s progress with other schools.
Competing with other schools seems to be all that schools focus on anymore.
The children of my class would help me make the rules for the classroom. After making
these rules, they will be expected to follow those rules at all times. The children will also come
up with rewards and consequences for their behaviors. I believe that the children would come
more following the rules if they had a part in making them. if this procedure doesn’t work, then I
will have to enforce the disciplinary rules of the school.
I hope to gain respect from the students by learning their limitations and boundaries. I
will teach them my limitations and boundaries. I will let them know that respect is only given
when it is received.
The value of education is to take everything that I know and teach it to every child that I
can. It is building character; broaden the minds, and preparing the life of my students for what is
in store for them in the future.
With love, care, and dedication to the children; I hope to be the best teacher that I can be.
My dream as a teacher is to make a difference in the life of children in the world. If I can have an
impact on one child’s life, then all my time and effort will be a success.
