Spring is in the air and we are so thankful for the warm weather!

“Walk a Mile In Our Shoes”
In many developing countries, children must walk barefoot for miles to school, without
clean water or medical help. Hundreds of millions of children are at risk of injury,
infection & soil-transmitted diseases. Many times children can't attend school barefoot
because shoes are a required part of their uniform. If they don't have shoes, they don't
go to school. If they don't receive an education, they don't have the opportunity to
realize their potential. On Tuesday, April 5th the YMCA of the Triangle is partnering with
TOMS shoes to spread awareness for children around the world.
What Can You Do to Help?
1. On Tuesday, April 5th participate in “One Day Without Shoes” and go barefoot. Tell the
story of these children and help raise awareness to this important issue.
2. Attend the “Walk a Mile in My Shoes” Walk at 6:30pm at the A.E. Finley YMCA. We will
have a walk and games set up for you and your family to participate while barefoot!
3. With every pair you purchase, TOMS will give a new pair of shoes to a child in need. Go
to www.TOMS.com and use this code: FinleyYMCA to get $5 off your purchase. Help a
kid go to school and get a cool pair of shoes, all at the same time! (Share the code but
please don’t post it online! Thanks)
4. Donate gently used shoes to our shoe drive and help us reach our goal of filling an entire
YMCA bus with donated shoes! Shoes will be collected at many off-site YMCA Programs.

FINLEY BLOOD DRIVE PARENT REMINDERS:
