Warriors Blast Chargers
The Deerfield Warriors continued their hot start to the 2011 season with a 4-1 triumph over the
Chargers of Dundee-Crown High School in the opening game of the North Shore Shootout in
Lake Forest. Joey Calistri got the Warriors started with less than two minutes gone in the game
when he took a pass from Jason Kayne, faked out the keeper, and tapped the ball into the empty
net. Calistri scored again ten minutes later when Eric Gilbert won a header to Kayne, who found
Calistri behind the Charger defense. The Chargers got one back in the 18th minute, and the half
finished 2-1. Calistri completed his hat trick twenty-seven seconds into the second half when he
took a pass from Gilbert and faked out the keeper. Calistri added his fourth of the game seven
minutes later when he got another pass from Gilbert, dribbled around the keeper, cut the ball
back on his right foot, and rifled a shot inside the near post. Josh Norris and Troy Kayne
combined for the victory in goal. The Warriors return to action for the next round of the
tournament when they take on Carmel on Thursday afternoon.
