1 Cor. 13:13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
Faith: (trust, belief, dependence)
1 Pet. 1:3- Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten
us again (gave us new life) unto a lively hope (unrestrained, full of spirit) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
Heb. 3:14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence
 (trust, assurance) stedfast unto the end;
Heb. 10:35 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompense (repayment) of reward.
Heb. 10:22- Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance (confidence) of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an
evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; for he is faithful that promised; (our belief in
God >>>
1 Tim. 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good
profession before many witnesses
1 Pet. 1:9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls
Heb. 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
*Now- believing - is the - tool, support, source - of things – expected, desired – the – proof, manifestation – of- the process
of faith not yet obvious
2 Cor. 5:7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
Heb. 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is
a rewarder of them that diligently (carefully, steadily) seek him.
1 Jn. 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our
faith. *It is our trust and faith in the Word, that gives us the power to prevail over all things of the world that would hinder or
defeat us.
1 Cor. 16:13 Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong. * Remain firmly fixed in your trust in the
gospel. > …..for by faith ye stand. 2 Cor 1:24
Eph. 6:16 Above all, taking the shield (protection) of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the
wicked. *Our faith gives us power over the weapons of the enemy.
Gal. 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the
flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. *My sins have been nailed to the cross
with Christ, by repentance & baptism in his name, so that now he lives (has his dwelling), in my body by the Holy Ghost, &
this Spirit now rules instead of my flesh.
Gal. 5:6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh
(has actions) by love. *Without love our faith is in word only, for it is impossible to have the faith without love, for God is
love & all things spiritual abound by this love of God.
Rom. 5:1 Therefore being justified (without blame) by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
*Above all, taking the shield (protection) of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the
 wicked. > Eph. 6:16)
Rom. 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
*For in the gospel, the righteousness of God is revealed from start to finish – the righteous shall have life by his faith in God.
Hope: (desire accompanied by expectation)
Rom. 8:24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?
25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it. (he that shall endure until the end, the same
shall be saved Mt. 24:13)
1 Thess. 5:8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the
hope of salvation. *Be watchful, protecting the heart with faith & love as a shield, else things will enter into the heart to
deceive, discourage, & destroy our confidence. And to protect the mind from doubtful thoughts, we must continue to hope in
our salvation.
Col. 1:5 For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;
26 Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:
27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in
you, the hope of glory: *The mystery of the Kingdom of God is revealed to us, and it is the hope in us
that keeps us until we are received into Glory.
1 Jn. 3:1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God:
therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall
appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
3 And every man that hath this hope (expectation that we will see him) in him purifieth himself, (keeps himself righteous)
even as he is pure.
Heb. 6:17 Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel,
confirmed it by an oath: * immutable = never changing
18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have
fled (to him) for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:
19 Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil; (we
must not lose hope, for it is our hope that keeps us from straying from God > an anchor is something that holds something
else secure)
Rom. 15:13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound (be plentiful, overflowing)
in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost. *So, if we continue to build up ourselves, praying in the Holy Ghost (Jude
20) & yielding to the Spirit, we will not lose hope!
Ps. 146: 5 Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God:
*We cannot put our hope in carnal things.
Charity: (love in action)
Col. 3:14 And above all these things put on charity, (apply, produce) which is the bond (uniting force) of perfectness.
(perfect = complete, without defect)
1 Cor. 16:14 Let all your things be done with charity. *Everything we do must be done in the spirit of love or it profits
nothing.
1 Cor. 13:1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass,
or a tinkling cymbal.
2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so
that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it
profiteth me nothing.
4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth (boasts) not itself, is not puffed up,
 (prideful)
5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, (improper, unbecoming) seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, (angered, stirred
up) thinketh no evil;
6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
7 Beareth (withstands) all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
8 Charity never faileth:....
*We might ask ourselves, how could more love be shown than giving all we have to the poor, even giving our very life; but if
it is given for any other reason than genuine love, it is as though we have done nothing.
1 Peter 4:8 And above all things have fervent (earnest, passionate) charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover
(forgive) the multitude of sins.
9 Use hospitality one to another without grudging. *To be hospitable is to make someone feel welcome, to have fellowship
with then in love, giving them place, not only in our homes but also in church.
Gal 5:13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; (freedom) only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by
love serve one another. *Instead of thinking of ourselves, we must assist and attend unto the needs of others... giving
instead of taking all the time.
14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. *How do we treat
ourselves? We are careful to take care of our needs and make ourselves comfortable and content.
15 But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed (destroyed) one of another
1 John 4:7- Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth
God. (knoweth = has an understanding of, & acquaintance with God)
8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
Rom 12:9 Let love be without dissimulation. (pretence) Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.
10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;
13 Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality. (fellowship, make welcome)
14 Bless (ask divine favor for) them which persecute (wrong) you: bless, and curse not.
15 Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.
Matt 6:15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Luke 6:27- But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, (those that would harm you) do good to them which hate
you,
28 Bless them that curse (express hatred, anger) you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.
29 And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloke forbid not to
take thy coat also.
30 Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.
31 And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.

*Our faith in God gives us hope, and in our hope, we have expectation of eternal life, but it is our love for God that causes
us to have faith and hope!
