CUSO challenge raises over 2,000 items for charity
NEW BRIGHTON, MINNESOTA AND HOUSTON, TEXAS—Over 2000 items
were collected for charity when Minnesota-based CUSO, CU Companies challenged
Houston-based CUSO, Credit Union Acceptance Company, LLC (CUAC) to a friendly
fundraiser for their local food shelves for the Thanksgiving holiday.
This is the second such challenge by the two CUSOs. The 13-day food drive, dubbed,
“The Great CU vs. CUAC Food Fight,” gave employees of the two CUSOs an
opportunity to create a friendly rivalry between the companies with the winner receiving
a pizza party courtesy of the loser.
In the end, the CU Companies crew avenged last year’s loss after bringing in over 1,150
items of food for the Ralph Reeder Food Shelf in New Brighton, MN. Meanwhile,
CUAC rallied its employees to bring in items 871 items.
“There really are no losers in an effort like this,” said Brad Crandall, CEO of CU
Companies. “The food fight challenge was for a great cause. Both companies did well,
and I tip my hat to our friends in Texas and look forward to another friendly challenge
next holiday season.”
CU Companies is owned by 73 Minnesota credit unions and provides real estate, business
lending, investment and vehicle-acquisition services. CUAC is an auto acquisition and
indirect lending CUSO serviced by more than 60 credit unions in six states, serving over
1.2 million members.
