If you think you can make a difference in someone’s life and would like to service as a volunteer for Special Olympics, there are many opportunities available. You don’t have to be an expert in sports in order to help out with a team. Here’s a sampling of the volunteer roles available in the Special Olympics program: Coach, Official, Fundraiser, Committee member, Public relations assistant, Administrative assistant, Special Olympics Unified Sports partner, Competition and event supporter. Everyone one has special gifts to share with others. As a volunteer coach you have the opportunity to become a role model and character builder. You can help athletes discover their physical skills, their self-worth, their human courage and their capacity to grow – providing life skills training for life. If you’re interested in learning more about volunteering for Special Olympics, contact the office for Area 11 at: 631 North 48th St., Quincy, IL 62301. Phone 217223-3862.
