Prof. Dr. Manfred Wandt Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main Insurance Law Institute Institute for Law and Finance Institute for Comparative Law Prof. Wandt studied Law at the universities of Mannheim, Paris and Strasbourg. After his Second State Examination he worked as a research assistant at the University of Mannheim. He wrote his doctoral thesis in conflict of laws and his post-doctoral thesis on international product liability. He then taught as a professor at the University of Hannover, and in 1995 accepted the chair of Civil Law, Commercial and Insurance Law, Private International Law and Comparative Law at Johann Wolfgang Goethe University, Frankfurt. He is an editorial board member of the journals “Versicherungsrecht” and “Zeitschrift für die Gesamte Versicherungswissenschaft”, a member of the European Restatement Group of Insurance Contract Law and other professional associations, including the Committee of the Deutsche Verein für Versicherungswissenschaft, and a member of the insurance advisory board of the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin). He is director of the Institute for Insurance Law and member of the executive committee of the Institute for Law and Finance at Johann Wolfgang Goethe University, Frankfurt where he is responsible for the insurance section of the postgraduate program (LL.M. Finance). His academic work focuses on Insurance Law in the European and International context.
