BA 101 Introduction to Business Tactics of Success

With that idea in mind I set up the class so that you will read several chapters prior to coming to class each week. This should keep us moving through the material at a pace that will bring us to the end of the text by the time the term ends. It also provides course points that accumulate gradually rather than your entire grade riding on a midterm and a final exam. Here are some suggestions for success in this class: Allow yourself 4-5 hours per week to do the reading and the work. A good rule of thumb is one hour of study time for each hour of class time. Once you get a feel for the class you can adjust the time requirement. Don't wait until the last minute to do the assignments. Procrastination is the main cause of problems in all the college level classes I've taught. Allow time to ask me questions if you don't understand something. Always check to be certain when the assignment is due. There is no penalty for early submissions. I don't normally accept late assignments! Use the class schedule. Give me plenty of time to answer your questions. The best way to contact me is by email. I check MyPCC each week day and respond to all emails within 24 hours. If I'm out of town I take my laptop with me and continue to monitor the class. If you have a problem let me know right away. Give me an opportunity to help before you become frustrated. If you can’t make class, let me know ahead of time. I’m in the classroom Monday afternoons from 4:30 – 5:30 PM for my office hours. Often I’m there earlier. Call and check if you need to speak with me. Start your paper/project right away. It's not difficult but it requires some research. DON'T WAIT! I've put a number of resources into your class web site. I also maintain a personal class website at; www.mikehasclass.com. Look through them and use them. As I add more things I'll put a notice in the announcement section on the home page telling you where to find them. I will post all handouts on the website so if you missed one you can always download another copy from there. Have fun! Learn new ideas and concepts that you can use! That's what college is for.
