Turn sound effects on or off
Sound effects can enhance your productivity in Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 by notifying you when a new e-mail
message arrives or by reminding you of an upcoming appointment. You can add extra sound effects to Microsoft
Office programs, including Office Outlook 2007, for tasks such as sending an e-mail message and zooming in or out
of views.

messages arrive
1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
2. On the Preferences tab, click E-mail Options, and then click Advanced E-mail Options.
3. Under When new items arrive in my Inbox, select or clear the Play a sound check box.
For information on how to change the sound that is played when a new message arrives, see the See Also section.

1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
2. On the Other tab, click Advanced Options.
3. Click Reminder Options.

Turn on or off extra sound effects in Microsoft Office
programs
Microsoft offers an add-in to provide additional sound effects when you send e-mail messages or work with toolbars,
scroll bars, and dialog boxes. When the add-in is installed, these sounds will play in Office Outlook 2007, Microsoft
Office Excel 2007, Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007, and Microsoft Office Word 2007.
If this is the first time you are performing the steps below, first you must download an add-in from Microsoft. Follow
the prompts on your screen to complete the download and installation.
1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
2. On the Other tab, click Advanced Options.
3. Select or clear the Provide feedback with sound check box.
NOTE When you select or clear the Provide feedback with sound check box, the setting affects all Microsoft Office
programs that support this option.
