                               “Run For The Border”
                              American Legion Charity Ride
The goal of this event is to raise funds and awareness for the “Heroes to Hometowns”
program. This is a newly developed program that establishes a support network and
coordinates resources for severely injured service members returning home. All funds
donated to “Heroes to Hometown” will stay in Michigan and benefit one of our own
“Hometown Heroes.”

We are looking for some corporate/business sponsors for this event. Funds generated
from sponsors will help pay for the free lunch that we are giving to all participants.
Sponsorship money will also help defray the cost of advertising for this event. If you
know of a business that would like to make a contribution please let us know. Sponsors
will receive a free advertisement on our website as well as their logo/Company Name
being placed on the poster that will be presented to the Legion State Department with
the money raised from the ride.

The ride will take place on July 12, 2007.

ALL PARTICIPANTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO FILL OUT A SIMPLE REGISTRATION
FORM ON THE INTERNET IF THEY PLAN ON PARTICPATING IN THIS EVENT.
PLEASE FILL OUT YOUR FORM BY JULY 1, 2007
The form can be found at www.alr3.com Click on the link for the Run For The Border.
The form will be located on this page.

While at the Run For The Border page, participants are also encouraged to click on the
link for the drawing for a FREE one night hotel stay at the Holiday Inn Express and two
FREE weekend passes to the Veterans Motorcycle Rally. Make sure to sign up for the
drawing before July 1, 2007. Also, don’t forget to check the box that says “American
Legion Riders Run For The Border.”

Registered participants will receive a free lunch!

We need one, preferably two leaders for each group.

IF FOR SOME REASON WE ARE UNABLE TO FORM GROUPS FOR EACH
GEOGRAPHICAL AREA, ALL RIDERS PARTICIPATING SHOULD STILL PLAN TO
BE IN GRAYLING AT THE AMERICAN LEGION POST #106 BY 11AM. AMERICAN
LEGION RIDERS FROM POST #3 WILL LEAD THE GROUP FROM THE GRAYLING
POST #106 UP TO THE FINISH LINE IN SAULT STE. MARIE AT POST #3.

Each Group Leader(s) are responsible for planning a travel route to Grayling. Also,
Group Leader(s) must schedule one (1) fuel stop between their starting point and
Grayling.

We are trying to keep each leg of the trip less than 100 miles in length. Group Leaders
should keep this in mind when planning their route and gas stop on the way to Grayling.

All Group Leader(s) and their groups need to be in Graying (at the American Legion
Post #106) at 11am. Please plan your start times accordingly.

                              American Legion Charity Ride
It is not uncommon to get nervous crossing the Mackinac Bridge. If you have a problem
crossing the bridge on your bike please put this on your registration form and let your
group leader know. If we know about this ahead of time we can make arrangements to
get your bike transported across.

Upon conclusion of the ride we will be taking a group photo! This photo along with all
participant names and Post #’s (if applicable) will be professionally printed on a poster.
This poster will then be presented with all funds to the Heroes to Hometowns program.

After the group photo, there will be a Pasta Dinner (Donation) and entertainment at the
American Legion Post #3 in Sault Ste. Marie.

If you are trailering your bikes to the Sault for the Veterans Motorcycle Rally you are
more than welcome to participate in the Border Run. We would prefer a couple vehicles
to follow in the back as “Chase Vehicles.” This way if someone has bike trouble, one of
the vehicles can stop and help out.

If you have a bike problem please flag down one of our chase vehicles. If you are just
stopping for a break give our chase vehicle the “thumbs up.”

For the most part, this ride will be traveling down I-75. We hope to maintain a speed of
65 mph. If you cannot maintain this speed please meet us at the finish.

Bridge fees are as follows: Bike = $2.50/each W/ Trailers = $3.75. Please have your
money handy to avoid backups!

If you are getting fatigued or sleepy please stop at a rest area and rest until you are
ready to continue. You can always catch up to the group at the next stop or at the
finish.

PLEASE USE COMMON SENSE AND DO NOT USE ANY DRUGS OR ALCOHOL!!!
THE SAFETY OF THE PARTICPATNS IS OUR TOP PRIORITY!!!

REMEMBER TO RIDE SAFE!!!
