FROM PASTOR KEN
HD FAITH
We live in the age of digital enhancement and High Definition TV. The result is that we are able to see everything both the
beauty and the blemishes of anything that is recorded.
I have shared in recent sermons about the Church of Jesus Christ being a place where God’s word impacts our lives in
what we learn, how we grow, and where we go. I’ve called this “Head/Discern,” “Heart/Develop,” and “Hand/Deploy.” It’s
important to develop these facets of our spiritual walk in Christ because it moves us toward a maturity that moves our faith
to action.
Why is this important? Jesus summed it up in John 17:21-23 – “That all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me
and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me…May they be brought to
complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have love me.”
HD faith recognizes that the world sees us very much more clearly than we might want to be seen. We make sure that we
are all that we have been designed to be by discerning, developing, and deploying the gifts with which we have been
blessed. The church is under scrutiny and it is essential that HD faith be a true representation of the power of God at work
in our lives. A great example of that was Step Out and Serve.
Meanwhile, we are going to have the opportunity to understand how God has designed us. For those that are interested,
and willing, I encourage you to speak to me about joining our Spiritual Gifts class in September. I will need to order
materials so I will need people to sign up ahead of time. The course is eight weeks long. We will go over materials
developed by the people at Stephen Ministries. During the time we will take a spiritual gift inventory and then evaluate it,
as well as discover how to know, grow, and go with the gifts that God has given for building His kingdom.
Join me in this high definition era that we may share God’s love, grace, and glory throughout Omaha.

FROM JULIE KNIGHT
School is in full swing for everyone now and I know everyone is excited for that! On the mission trip in July and at our
Vacation Bible School in June, one of the bible verses we taught the children was, Exodus 14:13, “Don’t be afraid. Just
stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today.” What an awesome and powerful verse! The children learned about the
parting of the Red Sea and how the people and Moses had to keep their faith in God. The people for a moment lost faith
but Moses never did and He led them to safety!
How many of us can say that we completely trust God enough to stand still and watch him rescue us? It can be very hard
to do now a-days with work, school, kids, housework, the list goes on and on… But remember God is always with us
even when it feels like he is not! Think of a time when you could find no way out. God was there. God didn’t leave you to
face it alone. He’s always with us, parting the water, making the wind blow, drying the path ahead of us. We do witness
God’s hand in everyday life. God is always beside us, watching us, caring for us, and providing all we need in every
situation. It’s our job to use what God has given us in the right way to solve the problem! In return we can let others know
how wonderful our God is by our actions in school and work. These are wonderful times to let your light shine, so that
when people see you making good choices and living your life for God they will hopefully say, “Wow, I want to be like that
too!”
Sometimes it can be hard for you to tell someone else about God, but you don’t always have to tell them. You can simply
show them by being kind and respectful toward them. At school or work it can be difficult to treat everyone how you want
to be treated but I challenge you to do just that. Smile at a stranger; open a door for someone. Kindness truly is
contagious and so is God’s love. Don’t keep God’s love bottled up inside share it with everyone you meet and, who
knows, you may find a new friend in someone you never thought possible! Remember to thank God for all of the
wonderful people in your life, especially your teachers! Our God is an awesome God!
Be Blessed,
Julie Knight
