DATA ANALYSIS
Figure 1: Most influence factor affect the unconcern safety precaution in a construction site.
The pie chart in Figure 1 describes the most influential factor that affects the unconcern
safety precautions in a construction site.
More than half (60%) feel that knowledge of safety is the most influential factor affects
the unconcern safety precautions in a construction site. The second more is lack of training
(27%). People feel that lack of training of the workers can lead to accidents in the construction
site. The third more is management support (13%).Not much people feel that the management
support is the most influential factor that lead to unconcern safety precautions in the construction
site. For the worker background (0%) nobody comments on it because they feel that worker
background is not the most influential factor lead to unconcern safety precautions in the
construction site.
Nevertheless, according to the Thanet Aksorn and B.H.W. Hadikusumo (2008) , it is
different since they found that most influential factor of unconcern safety in a construction site is
management support in their study of critical success factors (CSFs) influencing safety program
performances in Thai construction projects.
In a nutshell, most people feel that knowledge of the safety is the most influential factor
affects the unconcern safety precautions in a construction site.
Figure 2: Economical factor that influence the safety performance in a construction site.
The pie chart in Figure 2 describes the economical factor that influences the safety
performances in a construction site.
The most percentage is de financial management (83%). The second more percentage is
hazard pay (14%). People have the opinion that the hazard pay for the workers can influence the
safety performances in a construction site. The third more percentage is currency exchange (3%).
There are less people feel that the currency exchange can influences the safety performances in a
construction site. However, people feel that monthly salary (0%) will not influences the safety
performances in a construction site.
Similarly, according to Edwin Sawacha, Shamil Naoum and Daniel Fong (1999),they
stipulated that the monetary values such as hazard pay are considered in terms of how these
factors are linked with the level of site safety.
In conclusion, the most percentage is the financial management (83%). Most people feel
that financial problem can influences the safety performances in a construction site.
Figure 3: Background and characteristics of an individual affect the safety performance in a
construction site.
The pie chart in Figure 3 illustrate the background and characteristics of an individual affect
the safety performances in the construction site.
According to the chart, 57% respondents strongly agree with the background and
characteristics of an individual affect the safety performances in a construction site. About 23%
respondents agree,10% respondents disagree and 10% respondents strongly disagree with the
background and characteristics of an individual affect the safety performances in a construction
site.
Based on the study of Tam and Fung (1998), they stated that the low education level and
lack of proper safety training of workers are also contributing to the lack of safety performance
of a company.
In a nutshell, it can be conclude that the background and characteristics of an individual
affect the safety performances in construction site due to the lack formal training, and are less
aware of the potential traps on construction sites

Figure 4: Safety performance in a company will be affected if they are trying to avoid reporting
on a construction site.
The pie chart above shows the safety performance in a company will be affected if they are
trying to avoid reporting on a construction site.
According to the chart, most of the respondents do not think that safety performance in a
company will be affected if they are trying to avoid reporting on a construction site which is
about 83% of the respondents. However, 17% of the respondents think that safety performance in
a company will be affected if they are trying to avoid reporting on a construction.
Based on the study of Fang, Xie and Huang (2004), they state that issued about statistical
data on construction safety are generally regarded as less reliable, meanwhile for data reporting,
collecting and processing are not well audited. This attitude could endanger the safety of the
worker on construction site.
In conclusion, most of the respondents think that avoid reporting the accident on a
construction site is not a main factor to affect the safety of the construction site.
Figure 5: A company will be affected if safety is ignored.
The pie chart above describe a company will be affected if the safety at work is ignored.
Mostly, the respondents agree with it.
About 97% agree that a company will be affected if safety at work is ignored. However,
small number of respondent did not agree with it which is about three percent only.
Based on Al-kaabi and Hadipriono (2002), several companies habitually did not make
any report when an accident occur to The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, but several
others that did but they did not incorporating detailed if information regarding the accident types
and cause. This behavior cause the finding of the solution or improvement of safety cannot be
conducted. Therefore, when the safety is ignored, a company will be affected because any
improvement cannot be conducted.
In nutshell, a company will be affected if they did not concern about the safety at the
work place.
Figure 6: The group affected when there is lack of concern about safety in a construction site
The pie chart above described the group that will be affected if there is lack of concern
about safety in a construction site. Overall, it is believe that the worker is the group that will be
most affected.
More than half / (57%) believe that the worker is the most affected group when there is
lack of concern about safety in a construction site. The second affected group is the company
which is about 20%. The others group which is affected is the ministry(13%). Finally, the least
group affected when there is lack of concern about safety at work place is supervisor which is ten
percents.
This is similar to the research made by Al-kaabi and Hadipriono which they state that a
lot of the accident on the constrcution site experience by the worker due to the unconcern of the
safety on the workplace. Similarly, factor analyis-based studies on construction workplace safety
management in China, Fang, Xie and Huang (2004) found that the losses in construction accident
and pointed out that contractor in China paid less attention on safety because they did not realize
the losses they incurred.
In conclusion, variety type of groups will be affected when there is lack of concern about
safety in a construction site. However, the most affected group is the worker.
