The following information was sent to our office for your perusal:
Fortis BC is looking to fill a number of positions within their organization and has asked IBEW
Local 213 for assistance in recruiting new employees. In order to continue to meet the growth
and maintenance requirements in the Okanagan region, Fortis BC will be recruiting for Power
line Technicians and Communications Protection & Control Technologist, in 2011. If you are
interested in either of these positions and meet the minimum requirements Fortis BC would love

Power Line Technician (PLT)
A Journeyman PLT is expected to discharge the responsibility of and to practice fully and safely
his/her trades’ qualification; including construction, maintenance, repair and testing on
energized and de-energized power lines and circuits.
Duties
Holder of a Journeyman Power Line Technician Interprovincial Certificate or Lineman
Trades Qualification Certificate.
Consideration may be given to current Power Line Technician Apprentices
Salary
$36.55/hour based on February 1, 2010 rates along with a competitive benefits package. There
is currently an arbitration case pending on this wage.
Communications Protection & Control Technologist
The Communications, Protection & Control (CP&C) Technologist is responsible for the conduct
of installation, maintenance and repairs on all telecommunication, electrical apparatus and
equipment to ensure safe and efficient power system operation. Minimum qualifications in order
to be considered further include:
Duties
Diploma in Electrical, Electronics or Instrumentation Technology
Journeyman Electrical tradesman (Red Seal) or Power System Electrician (PSE)
