EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
School: SALYERSVILLE GRADE SCHOOL

MISSION STATEMENT:

The mission of the Salyersville Grade School is to prepare our students to become responsible citizens in
a democratic society. We want our students to develop academically, to be creative, and to learn to be
independent thinkers who will meet the future with confidence.

PROCESS OF DEVELOPING THE CONSOLIDATED PLAN
How Planning and Needs Assessment Teams Were Organized:

The Salyersville Grade School staff met to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the students and
staff. Key questions were asked and answered. Suggestions were given by the staff and the SBDM
council. The staff decided to complete a needs assessment to determine the needs of the students/staff.

The principal contacted the community members, employers, parents, and pupil support members to ask
for their support in working on the data analysis.

How the Needs of the School or District Were Determined:

The CIP committee met with all certified teachers to get their input concerning the CIP. A needs
assessment was given to the teachers. Teachers were then divided into core content groups to answer
the questions. When the questions were answered, each group presented their findings. From these
results, a report was generated of key findings and suggestions, and from these findings, the priority
needs for our school was created.
How Goals and Strategies Were Decided Upon:

The goals and strategies for the Consolidated Plan were determined by the NCLB data, KCCT results, the
needs assessment survey, data analysis results, ILP, and the SBDM Data Disaggregation by Sub-
Populations.

What Implementation of the Plan is expected to achieve?

The staff hopes to see changes in students and in themselves. Professional development training will
provide improvement in teaching strategies and techniques. We will be trying new and innovative
programs in order to motivate our students to acquire a greater level of knowledge.

We hope our students will want to attend school regularly to get the education they will need to succeed
in life.
What Process was used for Internal Review of the Plan?

The CIP review committee looked at the collection of information and compared it to the action
components that were chosen by the school staff. The committee agreed that the action components and
goals were realistic for our school. The staff agreed that through cooperation and sharing of
information, these goals could be met. The committee accepted the consolidated plan for the Salyersville
Grade School.
How Public Comment was secured and What Response was made:
The consolidated plan is located in the office and in the library for the public to view. Parents,
community members, and employees, have made suggestions and comments, which were considered
and used within the plan.
