Requirement: All fourth graders are required to read a minimum

of 5 Sasquatch or Young Reader’s Choice award books. Three

must be from the Sasquatch nominees, and the other 2 can be

read from either the Sasquatch Nominees or Young Reader’s

Choice Award books. Reading 3 from the Sasquatch Nominee list

will enable your child to participate in a state wide vote on their

favorite book from the list. The winner will be awarded the

Washington State Sasquatch Award for 2011. Please feel free to

read these books with your child.

Prize: Students who read a total 12 books in any combination will

be able to participate in a reading party at the end of the year.

We will be reading one Sasquatch in class that will count toward

the “prize” total, so students really only have to read 11 books to

be part of the book party.

Access: Your child can check these out from the King County

Library, Lake Wilderness’ Library or my classroom library. I’ve

read most of them so far and most have been very good. I’ve shed

some tears, laughed and been upset…all great signs of a good
