Sausalito Bus Route
Mount Tamalpais School has contracted with Laidlaw Educational Service, the largest and most reputable
student transportation company nationwide, to provide a daily bus to and from the school. Although the exact
route will depend on the children who take advantage of the program, in general, the one 20 passenger bus will
originate at Lincoln Blvd. and Letterman Drive and continue to The Golden Gate Bridge (SE Transit Pt.) in San
Francisco to pick up children there and then stop again at 2nd Street and Main Street, Bridgeway and Spencer
Avenue and Bridgeway and Harbor Drive in Sausalito. It will then take the Shoreline to Loring route to school.
The children will arrive at school by 8:05 a.m. each morning. The afternoon return route will be the reverse of
the morning route with Bridgeway and Harbor being the first stop. Afternoon bus service will be provided on
the Friday 2:15p.m. dismissals and the days when school is out at noon as well. The bus will be driven by the
same driver each day.
A parent run committee is being assembled to organize exact routes and times and to act as liaison between
families and the school regarding any bus issues. The committee will organize parents to staff the bus stops in
order to provide “drop and go” service in the morning and to be with the children until each child is picked up
in the afternoon. Both parents who are staffing the stops and the bus driver will have active cellular phones.
Systems will be in place to monitor where each child has gotten off the bus in the afternoons as well as where
each child gets on the bus in the morning.
Interested families will be asked to sign up per child by trimester. On an annual basis, this would be
approximately $750 per year or $250.00 per trimester. So as to provide the flexibility that many of you
requested, one way transportation coupon booklets (or Bus Books) of 10 coupons per book will also be sold.
The Bus Books will be $25.00 per book. The coupons are transferable so that siblings or friends can use them,
but must be purchased in advance of their use.
If you would like to take advantage of the school bus, please let us know by indicating and returning the
attached form to school with a check or credit card at your earliest convenience. The more advance information
we have, the more we can plan ahead with this new and exciting program. Thank you!
