Key to Independent Living 2011
April 30, 2011
Dear Colleague:
The Healthy Aging Focus Group, a broad-based, grassroots consortium of healthcare organizations
and service providers invites you to be part of an innovative new program entitled, “Key to
Independent Living”, Wednesday, June 22, 2011 from 3pm to 7pm at White’s of Westport. This
first of its kind, community-wide event is being developed by a collaborative of community partners and
promises to provide an information-packed afternoon of independent living resources for hundreds of
area seniors and their families. Please plan on being part of this exciting event.
The Key to Independent Living is Knowledge, so
the program is designed to create a health information
exchange between seniors, their adult influencers and
YOU, the provider. Our partners include Southcoast
Hospitals Group, assisted living communities, skilled
nursing facilities, rehabilitation hospitals and centers,
Councils on Aging, Coastline Elderly and Bristol Elder
Services, area hospitals, visiting nurse organizations,
community and governmental agencies dedicated to
seniors. The Key will open access to the abundant
amount of information, options and resources
necessary for seniors, caregivers and families to make
educated decisions that will optimize lifestyle choices.
We encourage you to participate and increase your
organization's exposure by reserving a resource table
or becoming a key sponsor. We anticipate a great
public turn out; regional marketing efforts will highlight
vendors, with wellness workshops, interactive
presentations and consumer transportation to and from the event. All proceeds will fund future patient
education programming for consumers throughout South Coast.
The Key to Independent Living Expo idea was initially presented to the members of the Southcoast
Hospitals' Healthy Aging Focus Group who were in unanimous support of its collaborative approach
and community spirit. We hope you feel the same and are inspired to become a key in our community’s
effort to inform and empower seniors and families.
Sincerely,
Key to Independent Living Sub-Committee
