A HANDBOOK OF LOCAL ACTIVITIES & TIPS FOR HEALTHY & ACTIVE LIVING
INTRODUCTION



               INT RODU C T I O N
               Approximately five years ago the “Redcliffe Healthy Ageing
               Partnership” was established. This partnership includes representatives
               from: your local Council, Queensland Health, the Redcliffe Community
               Association, the Redcliffe Bribie and Caboolture Division of General
               Practice, University of the Third Age (U3A), Bluecare, Ozcare, Helpforce,
               Lions Club of Redcliffe Kippa Ring, Department of Housing, Department
               of Communities, Redcliffe Home Assist Secure, Clontarf Beach Baptist
               Church and Redcliffe Meals on Wheels. The Partnership aims to develop
               and implement projects and strategies within Redcliffe that support
               older people in our community.

               This directory provides a list of local recreation and leisure activities
               suitable for older people. Nutrition information and tips for healthy
               living are also included. A grant from Sport and Recreation Queensland’s
               Local Community Partnerships Program, the support of Queensland
               Health and your local Council has enabled this project to be completed.
               We hope that you enjoy using this booklet to find new recreation
               activities and encourages you to become an active and healthy member
               of our community!

Hold the back of the chair. Place the right foot forward and bend at the
knee while keeping the left leg straight behind you. Both heels should be
kept flat on the floor. Keep the upper body straight while lunging forward
on the bent knee. You should feel a pull on the lower part of the straight
leg. Hold for 8 counts. Now switch sides and lunge with the left foot
forward while keeping the right leg straight. Hold for 8 counts. Repeat
