How to Download, Install and Use Spybot?
Within a web browser, type www.download.com in the address line. Go to the “Search”
bar, type “Spybot”, and click the green “Go” button:
When the results appear, look for the listing: Spybot Search and Destroy 1.4. Typically it
is one of the first in the list. Click on the green button beside download:
You will then see a box that reads: File Download-Security Warning. Do you want to
run or save this file? Click “Save”:
You can save the file to the desktop so it can be easily found:
A window appears showing the download. Once complete, click “Close”.
Once the Spybot icon is on your desktop, double click on it to install the program.
You will be prompted through to create a Back up of your Registry, which can be helpful
but is not necessary.
Next, it will prompt you to update the program. Click “Download All Available
Updates”. Finally, you’ll be prompted to start using the program.
To scan your computer for spyware, click on the box for “Check for Problems”:
When the scan is completed, the problems will show up listed in red. To fix the
problems, click Fix Selected Problems:
Click “yes” to confirm deletion of the problem files.
A Window appears that noting how many problems were fixed. Click “OK”.
You should also “Immunize” to help block future spyware from your PC.
Click on the “Immunize” icon on the left. Once completed, it will tell you how many bad
products have been blocked.
