FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Alexandria Branch of the NAACP Health Fair
The Alexandria Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Color People
(NAACP) will kick off its campaign against chronic disease at its Health Fair held April 30,
2011, at the Oakland Baptist Church, located at 3408 King Street in Alexandria, Virginia from
9am to 1pm.
The NAACP is committed to eliminating racial and ethnic disparities in our health care system
that plague people of color in the United States. Chronic diseases such as heart disease, stroke,
cancer, diabetes, and arthritis are among the most common, costly, and preventable of all health
problems in the U.S. The NAACP Alexandria Branch seeks to provide education, trust, access,
and quality to the community to ensure health awareness.
The NAACP Alexandria Branch and the Oakland Baptist Church, along with other governmental
and non-governmental organizations would like to address the needs of men, women, and youth
in the community as well as provide free health services (information, screenings, testing, etc.) to
the public.
Residents and families interested in participating in the upcoming Health Fair are encouraged to
come out and support this free event.
