Myths, Legends, and Folktales
Dramatization Activity
In groups of 4-5, you will create a mini-drama of an assigned myth,
legend, or folktale. You will have one class period to create the drama
and write the script. You will have half a class period to rehearse the
drama. The following is a list of requirements for the groups.
Stay true to the events of the story.
Everyone in the group must have a part in the drama.
Be creative in the reenactment of your assigned story—you have
dramatic license—but remember the first requirement.
Your drama must be at least three minutes long and no longer
than five minutes.
The following is a list of requirements for the audience.
Listen respectfully.
List group members.
Take notes in your response notebook—
o Did everyone participate?
o How creative was the reenactment?
o What made it creative or how was it lacking in creativity?
o Did the group stay true to the events?
o What was you favorite scene, part, person, or event? Why?
o Rate the drama on a scale from 1-5. 1 being the best and
5 being the worst.
o Defend your rating in one sentence.
