Dear Students and Parents,
Hello, and welcome to another fun-filled school year. My name is
Jacqueline Smith and I am the new band teacher at Riverside
During the first few weeks of school, I have been helping your 4th,
5th, or 6th grade student get ready to take band class. So far, they
are excited about starting band this year.
If your student is interested in joining the band, I ask that you
read this letter and fill out the attached form. The form needs to
be returned to your student’s teacher no later than Friday.
Band classes will officially start on August 16, 2010. Help your
student prepare for class by making sure they have the
Instrument in good working order
Essential Elements 2000 method book
4th grade – book 1, 5th grade – book 2,
6th grade – book 3
o Cleaning kit (except percussion)
o 2 pencils with working erasers
o Reeds (Clarinet and Saxophones)
Beginning students – size 2
Returning students – use the same size
you used last year
There will be a brief meeting for all band students in room 31
from 6:00-6:30 during Back to School Night.
