Job Title: Direct Marketing Fundraiser

Job summary:
Deliver the MCCC strategic plan Direct Marketing objectives through the
management of the annual direct marketing programme to recruit new and develop
existing supporters. Optimise the income from and retention of supporters through
targeted appeals and communications.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Campaign Management
1.1 Develop the Marketing Plan for individual campaigns with all stakeholders, to
meet agreed objectives. Make recommendations for testing and
development.
1.2 Manage the creative development of the campaign and brief external
agencies (or occasionally internal team) on creative approach.
1.3 Based upon results and analysis, determine the most appropriate audience
for the campaign, whether new or existing and prepare the mailing list
selection. Brief the Database Services Team to run data counts and
selections as appropriate, to ensure targets are met and data is accurate, or
brief external agency to purchase lists for mailing and undertake data
processing.
1.4 Provide detailed brief and materials to the Supporter Services Manager
enabling the team to produce an accurate fulfilment brief for the external
fulfilment house
1.5 Brief and prepare fulfilment materials for all campaigns and adhoc appeal
responses.
1.6 Provide Direct Marketing expertise to other teams undertaking DM activity,
and project manage other DM projects as necessary
2. Creative Management
2.1 Review artwork and edit copy to ensure it meets both campaign objectives
and MCCC brand guidelines.
2.2 Liaise with all stakeholders, gather feedback and feedback comments to
agency as necessary
2.3 Research into projects, case studies, production methods and other charities
approaches to feed into the creative process

2.4 Ensure that all permissions for photography, case studies and all other
material are gained before final sign-off and communicate with individuals in
case studies sensitively
3. Financial management and briefing
3.1 Ensure best value for money for campaign production, from creative fees to
production and postage and prepare detailed Campaign Management
reports.
3.2 Manage campaign budgets, and ensure accurate and complete records are
kept.
3.3 Brief finance codes to Database team to ensure that income is accurately
coded for each campaign
4. Analysis
4.1 Manage and develop campaign reporting and analysis with the Direct
Marketing Manager,
Database Services and Finance to ensure regular and accurate campaign,
financial and database reporting to inform decision making. For each
campaign, prepare weekly campaign management reports, detailed analysis
of segmentation and test results, and End of Appeal Management Report,
making recommendations for future activity
4.2 Develop and update other Direct Marketing reports as required
4.3 Brief Database Services or agency on any additional analysis to be
undertaken
5. Maintain campaign records
5.1 Ensure guard files are updated for all campaigns to ensure a permanent
record of campaign history is kept
5.2 Maintain electronic and hard copy campaign day files according to the
Campaign Management Process, ensuring that key documents are prepared
and recorded in the files or uploaded onto the intranet
5.3 Update the Campaign Management Process as required when processes,
legislation or best practice changes.
6. Supporter Care
6.1 Ensure that all supporters are receiving the highest standard of supporter
care by developing and regularly reviewing processes and standards with the
Support Services and Database Services teams. Incorporate Supporter
Services feedback in end of campaign reports, and take action where
appropriate.
6.2 Periodically review supporter feedback on campaigns to ensure we are
delivering communications that are appropriate to our audience and optimise
response and retention.
Other Tasks:
To provide support to the Direct Marketing Manager as appropriate for example
deputising at meetings, producing notes of meetings, handling internal and external
queries in relation to direct marketing campaigns.

To be aware at all times of the roles and responsibilities of all staff in the department
in order to direct calls and enquiries correctly.

General
