Letter from the Director of Student Financial Services
The Student Financial Services Office is responsible
for administering Bryn Mawr College's financial aid
programs and for billing of tuition, room and board, fines
and other fees. This handbook has been prepared to
provide you with information about our policies and
procedures for the 2011-12 academic year. Please read it
carefully and share it with your family.
At Bryn Mawr College, we view the financing of private
higher education as a partnership of the family, the state
and federal governments, and the institution. Financial aid
counselors are available to help you through the financial
aid process, as well as to assure that our resources are
distributed equitably and appropriately. To meet your
eligibility for assistance, the Office of Student Financial
Services uses funds from federal, state and institutional
sources. As stewards of the funds, Bryn Mawr College
complies with federal and state regulations, Trustee policy
decisions and recommendations from the Bryn Mawr
Student Financial Services Policy Committee.
Bryn Mawr supported 61 percent of the undergraduate
students at the College with institutional need-based grants
during the 2010-11 academic year, and expects to award
more than $22.6 million in grant aid during the 2011-12
academic year.
The College offers an interest-free monthly payment
plan administered through Tuition Management Systems
(TMS) to assist families to meet their expected family
contribution. Through this plan, your annual charges may
be paid in 8, 9 or 10 month installments. Prepaid plans for
tuition or tuition, fees, room and board are also available for
families who are not receiving any type of financial aid.
We hope these pages will help clarify our institutional
policies and simplify the process for you. The information
in this handbook was accurate at the time of publication;
however, Bryn Mawr's policies, procedures and terminology
may change without notice. Please feel free to contact us
with questions or concerns.
We look forward to working with you.
Sincerely,
Ethel M. Desmarais
