In the third part of this series, I will be discussing the final stage to consider when
Why you should choose a professional
interactive company PART III
If you’re looking at a big name hosting company for your Web site (like GoDaddy
choosing a company to build your Web site: post-production. There’s plenty of or Network Solutions), make sure their server environments are compatible with
individuals and Web design companies out there that can create you a Web site, your Web product. Also, many professional interactive marketing companies
but they only go so far as design. What about once design is complete? offer their own in-house Web hosting services, which means any changes that
need to be made – especially in an emergency – can be made easily and quickly.
It’s alive! But it has no where to live. That is another benefit of using a professional interactive marketing company;
One of the biggest mistakes a business can make when having a Web site built you can get all you need before, during and after your Web site is built all in one
MyrtleBeachAreaChamber.com
is not considering where and how the Web site will be hosted. The World Wide convenient place. Just make sure that whichever hosting service you choose has a

house your Web site. Each server environment (much like the difference between
a Mac and a PC) have specific requirements for a Web site to be hosted. Especially When you are doing competitive research on who you’ll choose to build your
if your Web site has a database attached to it (this is another issue entirely). Web site and how much to pay for it, make sure you’re not comparing apples to
oranges. Don’t just pay for the wall paper when you need the whole house built,
because there’s much more to having a Web site than what it looks like on your
computer screen.
How well is your Web site doing anyway?
Many businesses know they have to have a Web site to be competitive in today’s
market, but most of them don’t know what to do with it after it goes live. Many
businesses believe that what you see is what you get, and there’s no need to
change or revise their Web site once it’s complete. Of course, this isn’t the case at
all. When you choose a professional interactive marketing company to build your
Web site, your relationship usually continues with them after the Web site goes
live. And the most important element of that relationship is reporting. That Web
site you had built at a bargain basement price most assuredly did not come with
any way to analyze the traffic, and Web analytics are essential to the ongoing
success of your Web site’s online presence.
Reporting makes all the difference between just having a Web site and having a
powerful marketing tool. If you can’t quantify the results of your Web site (the
traffic: who’s coming, who’s leaving, and what they are doing when they get
there), then you are flying blind. You’ll have no idea if your investment was worth
it or not. If done right, your Web site will definitely pay for itself, which is another
great point to keep in mind if price is your main deal breaker.

Grand strander
Ambassadors are a group of dedicated volunteers from various businesses throughout the Grand Strand community. Their mission is to welcome current members
and recruit new chamber members. Ambassadors serve as goodwill representatives at various chamber functions and aid in the support of members. This month,
the Grand Strander took a moment to check in with Samuel Fresquez, an ambassador with the chamber for eight months, to find out why he enjoys being an
ambassador. To learn more about becoming a chamber ambassador, visit MyrtleBeachAreaChamber.com and click on Member Resources/Ambassador or contact
Pat Creed, membership programs manager, at (843) 916-7225 orby e-mail at Pat.Creed@VisitMyrtleBeach.com.

Goodwill Industries of Lower South Carolina Job Link Center
127 Loyola Dr.
Your Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce conducts ribbon-cutting ceremonies as
a value-added benefit included in your membership investment. We bring the camera, Myrtle Beach, SC 29588
oversized scissors and, of course, the ribbon. (843) 650-0163
lowcountrygoodwill.org
A grand opening, an expansion, an anniversary or a move to a new facility is made more
special with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Plus, it’s a great way to introduce your business to
the community and fellow chamber members. If you’re a home-based business, give us a
call and we’ll hold a special ceremony here at the chamber just for you.
Your event can be as simple, informal, extravagant or ceremonious as you want it to be.
It's your event and should reflect your company's values and personality.

Ribbon-cutting announcements are included in the Grand Strander, which is mailed to our
2,400 plus members, and photos appear in the online edition of the popular newsletter.
The chamber’s ambassadors attend ribbon-cutting ceremonies on behalf of the members.
Having ambassadors at the ceremony provides an excellent networking and publicity
opportunity.
