I have 10 solid years experience as a full-time, self-employed designer, graphic artist, photographer
and web designer, with over 50 web-sites to my credit. I have thousands of hours of real-world
experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, CSS, HTML, Dreamweaver, and other tools. For
examples, check out my online portfolio site: ptschroeder.com
I have a long history in graphic design (my mother was an art teacher so I started young). There is
always something new and challenging to be learned, so I work hard to stay current with the latest and
greatest. In over 50 web-sites I have been doing all aspects of web design and development, from
design to implementation. The thought of being able to focus more specifically on the graphics design
and user interface aspect of web development and software development is extremely attractive to me.
To get that great final result you have to know how to read your target audience and then apply the
correct design concepts to reach them. This may mean working with many different design concepts
such as user-friendly interfaces, eye popping graphics, and simple structures, utilizing clean styles with
a twist to really catch the visitor’s attention. And, without fail, all designs need to be easy to navigate..
My web work has demanded this headset.
I do have a perfectionist quality. I love to work on things until they are absolutely perfect, but it is also
necessary to stay within a time frame. Luckily, I don't have a prima donna ego so I am able to be
flexible and accept suggestions. Part of the job is knowing when to let go and love your end result.
One very important skill that I have learned is you must be able to work with a team. Good team work
produces the best results and quality. Working effectively on a team involves being able to help
teammates, not be afraid to speak up and give your opinion, and able to really listen and learn from the
suggestions of others. These are great tools I have learned through my work with clients and others I
have collaborated with in my business.
Being self-employed, I know about meeting deadlines. In my 10 years as a web / graphic designer, I
have worked the extra hours to stay within the desired time frame. It also helps to have a sense of
order. I am organized both on and off of the computer and I credit running my own business with
learning that order positively affects productivity.
There is another trait that is particularly important - attitude. I have a long track record of being positive
and having the drive to do whatever it takes to accomplish the goals set in front of me.
Although I have college experience and have been seriously studying my craft for my whole life, I do
not have a degree. I believe that my 10 years of independent study, research, and full-time experience
should offset that requirement.
Hoping to talk to you soon,
Paul (PT) Schroeder
PROFILE
I am a professional graphic / web / media designer interested in creating clean, powerful, and
simple graphic designs that catch, hold and direct the viewer’s attention. I think it is important
to create a look, feel, and structure that is not only user friendly but also catches the users
attention and entices them to learn more.
My goal is to find a position that will let me focus on graphics and interface design, which is
what I love the most, and where I excel. Longer term, my management skills would make me a
candidate to lead a design group.
