PRIMARY FUNCTION
Assist the Technical Supervisor with the management of all technical operations relating to performances or any
other public activity at the Seymour Centre to ensure a safe, positive experience for patrons and other
stakeholders.


OVERVIEW OF THE SCHOOL / DEPARTMENT AND POSITION CONTEXT

Located in the heart of the University of Sydney, the Seymour Centre champions cultural exploration, arts
education and audience engagement. It presents a diverse range of the best of contemporary performing arts;
hosts major festivals, presents large scale theatre productions and partners with small and emerging companies
to develop and present innovative independent performance.
The Theatre Technician works within the Technical team that assists with the organisation and successful
delivery of the technical aspects of all events at the Seymour Centre. The role involves a mix of administrative
tasks combined with work as a practical technician for bump-ins and performance calls as required on
productions/events in the Centre. This role includes over-time provisions as required.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Conduct all technical aspects in either electrical, lighting or sound for each production at the     Daily
   Seymour Centre in various theatres as discussed and advised by the Technical Supervisor.


2. Responsible for moving and installation of all electrical equipment and cabling ensuring that the    Daily
   technical requirements for each production are met.


3. Responsible for installing the audio /sound operations within the different theatres as instructed   Daily

   Assist with the management of the roster for technical casual staff in association with the          Daily

   Under the direction of the Technical Supervisor conduct induction to the Seymour Centre for               As

    4. Make recommendations to the Technical Manager about better practices and equipment to service our
         clients and staff requirements.
