Things to Improve:
-Facebook Page – more updates
-Promo team is working on the Facebook page
What do you think is missing?
- Communication is a problem. Dates get moved events get moved.. no one
knows about it
- Mostly Commerce Students come out to events – try and get more students to
come. Ex. Amazing Race (teams were mostly from Commerce)
- People don’t know what’s going – people are afraid to go to Commerce to ask
questions
- Mentor program – orientation day we haven’t had another House event – get
them more involved. Feels like we lost them already
- 1st years are busy with school and want to do well so they don’t go out to
events
Why did the new members join?
Wanted to find out more of what it was about
Wanted to get involved and do something first year.
Everyone wants to do things with their friends so 1st years wont come to
events if their friends won’t go
Free food gets people going but its more of afraid to meet new people
Events well in advance notice– plan a head of time
*across campus – no matter how much you promote things – people will
decide not to go – commuter school - students go to class and then go home
Engage people that are not involved
Good seeing commuters being involved
A lot of events happen on campus – try and hold an event off campus with
one of our partners?
Last year – people on Commerce were so excited, we lost excitement because
students weren’t getting involved- sports games were boring.
Going Forward to increase motivation:
So much going on – more careful of types of events not enough time to do
everything
Current enough to keep the event in their mind but not that far away (1
month)
Business e-mails are excessive – change title to Commerce for e-mail
Example – from Andre UWSA people read them more
If e-mails had Jessica’s name on them students would read them
Weekly e-mail of what’s going on
CLEW – homework site or use it?
What’s going on with the App? iPhone app is up. Blackberry and android
don’t work on it .. Push notifications? No. Free App – CGA sponsored the App.

Year Reps – How to Reach out to students in your year:
First years loved the Benni concert
Concert where people dress up in business attire?
Open events campus wide – professors from other faculties
We are one of the most active societies on campus
When you walk to Odette – commerce office is clicky – if you’re not in
business afraid to go to the office
Drama students said people were staring at them in Odette from the office.
Promotions – as a commuter you don’t want to come back to school at 7 for
an event. Target the residence students – go to the commerce event and
check it out. Business students know students in residence (RA’s for the
business floor). Promotions team meet with the business RA
SOS in welcome week – most effective way – annoy the business students
until they come. Bang on their doors. Car washes – they had fun.
