Chapter 15 Commercials for the New Deal Programs
I. Your group will need to create a documentary(s) and/or commercial(s) either
in support or in opposition of several of the New Deal programs listed below.
A. First come, first serve (sign up).
B. Try not to wait until the last day, otherwise you might not have enough
time to re-shoot the video and/or edit the video if you have problems.
II. You can choose to work with one classmate, but make sure someone in the
group has a camcorder to video the project (you can work alone).
A. There can be a maximum of three people in the group.
1. If you work with someone else from class, you must create three
commercials/documentaries on three different New Deal
programs.
B. You can also choose to work alone, if you would prefer.
1. If you work alone you must create two
commercials/documentaries on two different New Deal
programs.
III. Before you start creating your video(s), you must research the New Deal
programs you chose from the list.
A. The information in the video must be accurate.
B. Just type in each of the programs on a search engine to find more
information and be sure to check your book first.
1. If you’re working with others, give each person in your group a
program to research, and then worry about making the video.
IV. Audio and Video
A. Make sure the class can clearly hear and see the video, or your groups’
grade will be greatly reduced.
1. Check to make sure the audio and video is crystal clear, and if
not, re-shoot the video (I want t you to get an excellent grade).
2. If you know how to utilize Movie Maker (PC) or I-Movie (Mac),
feel free to use the program(s).
3. Each video needs to be at least thirty seconds long, but can be
longer.
B. Example: NIRA and NRA
V. Your effort or lack of effort will be reflected in the film.
A. Criteria for an excellent grade:
1. Audio is clear = 10 pts
2. Video is clear = 10 pts
3. Appropriate Content = 10 pts
4. Creativity = 20 pts
4. Appropriate Length = 10 pts
5. Total = 60 pts
VI. You can select the New Deal programs from the list below:

5. Federal Emergency Relief Administration (FERA)

9. Banking Act of 1933
10. Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC)
11. National Industrial Recovery Act (NIRA)

complete this project.
