CLONAOG HERITAGE with Vicky Herbert 028 6772 1730
Clonaog heritage offers a selection of local history and guide books.
‘The Crom Story’ charts the changes in this beautiful estate, now in National Trust hands, to the
present day. It includes personal memoires of the soldiers based here during the war-time years.
‘Crom Characters’ is a booklet where the people who worked and played around Crom relive
their memories. Great characters and great stories.
‘Crom National School’ at Corlatt, Derrylin, has been closed for fifty years, but it lives on in the
memory of past pupils and teachers, who meet together every year to renew old acquaintances.
This is the story of their school days!
‘Lisnaskea Legends’ dedicated to Noel Maguire, one of Lisnaskea’s best historians, who sadly
died in 2005, this book charts the rise of some of the old businesses in the area, from the Fairs and
Markets to the present day, as told by the people who were actually on the scene (to be priced
when collected from printers).
‘Sights ‘n’ Sounds from Fermanagh’ a collection of old sayings, nicknames, ditties, poems &
pictures. £4.00
‘More Stories from Fermanagh’ by the people in their own words. Second in the series of
interviews with the lovely people of Fermanagh. £6.00
‘Just Hashin'’ conversations with the people of Fermanagh. Third in the series of interviews
with people of Fermanagh transcribed from tape recordings in their own words. £6.00
‘From Ballyjamesduff to Ballyshannon’ a guide to the River Erne. Co-authored by John
Cunningham and Vicky Herbert, this is a book full of factual information and folklore stories to
interest all readers. £10.00
Please ring Vicky Herbert on 028 6772 1730 for further enquiries and prices.

ERNE CHARTER BOAT ASSOCIATION - HIRE CRUISER COMPANIES
This association is a voluntary group of wholly independent hire cruiser companies. To ensure that
you hire a safe, well serviced and clean boat, equipped to the highest specification, the association
has laid down a code of minimum standards and each member must ensure that these have been
complied with. In fact, most craft are well in excess of the high specification. The Erne charter Boat
Association has gained a very high reputation for friendly co-operation amongst its members, and
hire bases are spaced regularly along the whole length of the Erne- wherever you are cruising you
are never far from friendly help, service or advise if needed.

THE SHANNON ERNE WATERWAY
This navigation, formerly the Ballinamore and Ballyconnell Canal, is made up of still-water canal,
river sections and lakes. It connects the Shannon and Erne river systems. Follwing major
restoration, the canal was reopened in 1994.
It is checked by 16 locks on its course. Each lock will take about 15 minutes to negotiate and
cruising time for the 62.5km of navigation is approximately 13 hours.
The 1.55m minimum depth can accommodate boat draughts of 1.2m at a maximum speed of
3.4knots (5km per hour) in a channel width of 13m. The air draught is 3.2m over at 3.0m width
above summer navigation levels.
The locks are operated by a push-button electro-hydraulic system, activated by an electronic
‘swipe’card. The control panel also contains an emergency button.
Public moorings are available throughout the system. Laundries, showers, public toilets, pump-out
facilities and chemical toilets have been provided at Leitrim, Keshcarrigan, Ballinamore,
Garadice, Ballyconnell and Aghalane. These are operated using the swipe card.
Swipe cards are available from the Fermanagh Tourist Information Centre, Enniskillen
20 units £10
40 units £18
Charts for the system are also available.
Speed limit of 5kph prevails.

CHURCH SERVICES
Times of services may change during the year or in the Summer months and it is always advisable
