Volume rendering is the visualization of the reconstructed volume data. Because volume data is
very large, rendering speed is very important issue in volume rendering. We present a new speed-
up technique of volume rendering using the pixel shader and the 3D texture mapping in graphics
hardware. Volume data is mapped on 3D texture, and sampled by tri-linear interpolation in the
hardware. And the pixel shader processes the fragments. We classify volume data using the pre-
integrated lookup table, and this table can be calculated quickly. We can get high quality image
and fast rendering speed even in low resolution volume data and nonlinear transfer function.
