Introduction

This three-day, instructor-led course provides students with the

knowledge and skills that are needed to start using and working with

Microsoft Office SharePoint Designer 2007 in designing SharePoint

2007. This course has been designed to introduce students to

understanding the SharePoint Designer 2007 interface, how it interacts

with SharePoint 2007, and the specific functions available through SharePoint Designer 2007 for

SharePoint 2007. This course also utilizes an extensive hands-on lab to put into practice all the

skills learned from this course.



Audience



This course is intended for site designers, site managers and power users responsible for

enhancing SharePoint 2007 with SharePoint Designer 2007 with no prior knowledge of

SharePoint Designer 2007.



At Course Completion



After completing this course, students will be able to:



 Understand the architecture of SharePoint 2007

 Understand the customization tools provided as part of SharePoint 2007

 Create a site structure through SharePoint Designer

 Create customized SharePoint themes

 Create and manage customized SharePoint Site Templates

 Create and manage customized lists, views and document libraries

 Utilize the personalization features of SharePoint 2007

 Understand Master Pages and CSS and how they relate to SharePoint 2007

 Utilize the customization features provided with SharePoint Designer

 Prerequisites



Before attending this course, students must have:



 Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows XP.

 Working knowledge of Office System 2003 or 2007 products

 Understanding of web sites and using web browsers such as Internet Explorer

 Understanding of SharePoint logical architecture with Site Collections and Sites

 Knowledge of previous versions of SharePoint is not required

There is no corresponding Microsoft Certified Professional exam for this course.

Module 1: Portal Architecture



This module provides an overview of SharePoint 2007 architecture, describing the main elements

involved in creating and customizing information access through SharePoint via sites, lists, web

parts and web pages.

This module describes the core elements of accessing content through SharePoint sites, the list,

the library, web pages and web parts. This module also describes where certain customizations

are made, in the browser or through SharePoint Designer, and the limitations and benefits of

each.

This module explains how to create site templates from sites, as well as how to create custom

themes for branding. This module also introduces using Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) in site

designing.

the Master Page, and how content pages are generated from Master Pages.
