8. Motions
(A) Teacher allowances.
In keeping with past years’ practice, we’d like to provide each teacher
with a stipend of $125 to aid with the purchase of items for the
classrooms. This amount is pro-rated for part-time teachers. Cheque
to be given to Julie and teachers submit receipts for reimbursement.
47.75 teachers x $125 = $5968.75
MOTION: to provide each teacher with a stipend of $125 (or a pro-
rated portion thereof for part-time teachers) to aid with the
purchase of items for the classroom. Maximum $5968.75
(B) Buses for Class Trips.
In keeping with past years’ practice, we’d like to subsidize the cost of
one bus per class for class trips. Teachers to use the buses in the
most economical way possible. Will pay in installments as required.
The cost of a bus averages $225/trip. Actual cost of most local buses
is $204. 225 x 41 classes = $9225
MOTION: to subsidize the cost of one bus trip per class. Council
to pay in installments as the costs are incurred and teachers are
to use the buses in the most economical way possible.
(C) Sports buses:
Scot Richardson has asked us to subsidize buses for up to 14 events.
Buses will be used efficiently and shared between schools where
possible. Up to $2300 for sports buses.
MOTION: to provide up to $2300 to SMPS sports teams to pay for
bus transportation.
(D) Sports Equipment:
Scott Richardson has requested $2100 to purchase sand toys/balls for
the primary children and replacement sports equipment for the older
grades. Turns out that the younger students have been playing in the
yard and the sand with the quality sports equipment, the supply of
which is now depleted.
MOTION: to provide up to $2100 to SMPS care of Scot to
purchase toys for the younger children and replacement sports
equipment for the older ones.
