You might find these questions helpful to consider when completing your Profile in

the first term of Year 2.

3 What have you learned about yourself from any employment or travel to new countries or

environments?

3 Start planning early to get relevant experience for this summer’s vacation. Applications often have to

be in by December or early Spring.



Conceptual, Analytical and Problem Solving Skills

3 You are learning an increasing number of theories in lectures and in your reading. How well are you

able to relate such theories to the real world?



Labwork/Fieldwork (where appropriate)

3 How well are you doing with your subject-specific technical and practical skills?

3 Which do you find easiest and most difficult?

3 What might you do to improve them?

3 Are you keeping your lab book updated?



Essay Writing/Scholarly Communication

3 You are expected to do a literature review and assemble lots of information in preparation for

essays/dissertations.

3 Can you use logical arguments, synthesise large volumes of conflicting data into a coherent whole,

recognising the pros and cons of each, integrating diagrams, maps, graphs and references with the
