As the world progressess into the future, we start to wonder, what we have to do, in
order to keep up with it. What skills do we, as citiyens of the world, have to possess,
what does it mean to be a Global citizen?
In brief, we all need to do our part, to contribute to the world as it has done the same
for us, to open our eyes to other nations, other races. \open our eyes to new ways of
living, and not dwell in the old ways. Forget the past, for many mistakes had been
done, try to learn, and bring out a much safer environment for us all.
Though not all of us can withstand such an obligation, we can all learn to try, as they
say, learn from your mistakes, and we have had plenty of them. The Global citizen
needs to be aware of his environment as well, he should try to save the endangered
species, as well as to not create any more of them. He should be able to create ways to
prevent pollution as well as the mass global warming situation.
As well as being an environmentalist and culturally aware, a Global citizen should also
be a peacemaker, opening our borders for traveling is just one of the steps to
achieving that, also we should try to prevent the possible creations of new wars on
the planet as well as dissatisfaction of certain countries positions. as Global citizens
we have an obligation to help the underdeveloped countries grow, both financially,
educationally and technologically.

The true meaning of the phrase “being a global citizen” does just mean to make the world a
better place for yourself. Making the world a better place for humanity makes us “the global
citizens”.
Every day, there is an opportunity to help someone, whether the help is big or small, including
the financial aid, money donations for the poor, helping our family, friends, the people around
us. The idea of being a global citizen isn’t so hard to realize. Everyone can do it! e all just
need to get the best of us. We need to respect other people, other races, other cultures,
other ideas and thoughts. Every person, every human has his opinion about all kinds of things.
If our opinion proves wrong several times, it is a good idea to think about other ways and
change it. If it proves to be good and rights , it is a treasure that we need to keep and use,
to make us good persons and global citizens. Sometimes we need to take a look at the world
from the other perspective. It is unwise and naive to look at the world just from our point of
view. Even though, we can’t all do big and great things for humanity, one person can give a
little portion of influence to others.
It is very important to try and be a global citizen in some way and if we all just give a little
good from ourselves, one day, the favor will be returned.

Being a global citizen means that the whole world is your country, the whole
world is your home. All the people of our planet are your brothers and sisters.
If one of them needs help, we all need it. Because, one day, maybe the same
thing may happen to you, and you will plead for help. And who else can help
you then your countrymen.
Being “related” to all people, doesn‟t mean that we all have the same tradition,
culture, beliefs... No, it doesn‟t, we are all different, but we just need to be a
little bit tolerant. So what if he is black or white, yellow or pink, rich or poor,
smart or nor so smart, he is a human being and he has to be treated as such.
We all have prejudice about other nations, and groups of people, but how we
can make that „magically‟ disappear? By traveling and volunteering in
developing countries, we can help them and in the same time they can help us
to gain experience, wisdom, interculturalism.
Humans evolved bigger brains, and are more intelligent than other animals, we
still need to use that big brain of ours towards protecting our environment.

Being a global citizen means helping those who need our help, saving our
environment, following all written and unwritten rules and finally stop having
wars.

Every man has only one life to live and only one opportunity. And everone is trying hard to find his own best
way through life. We can’t think the same, enjoy the same things, communicate equally in all the situations,
live the same, have the same parents. A lot of things we learn from books but we cannot learn everything.
Some things spring out of our culture, as an unwritten rule, some are genetic, and some are acquired in the
process or growing up.
A nation can be stubborn and cannot accept arguments , thus creating intolerant people. In order to be a
global citizen, one should primarily be tolerant. A global citizen is a person who ignores racial and national
stereotypes, a person who does not hate or love people according to their local suitability. A global citizen
appreciates people according to their characters, and is aware of the fact that there are all kinds of people in
all cultures and nations. A cosmopolitan is an open-minded person, thinking about the future generations.
Their ideas do not harm the state and its people. They just tell people that the world would be a much better
place if we would respect each other regardless of the religion or colour. A global citizen is not indifferent to
the problems of his countrymen and does not accept ethnicities. A global citizen is made of different
material that the world and the people offer; he believes in it in spite of all the horrors, wars, destructions.
There is something like a common human fate that we all take part in. He feels moral and political
responsibility that crosses borders of his own nation and country. It is also the acceptance of different life
styles which enable the global citizen to welcome in a human and civilized way all our differences.
A global citizen likes to travel and he likes every corner of the planet Earth, The entire planet is his home.
For a global citizen, the world does not end with the borders of his own town or country. A global citizen
does not visit other countries only to have a vacation but he travels because he feels in other countries as if
he were at home. He does not really care where he lives.
Am I a global citizen? I was born and I live in Niš. Having a biometrical passport does not make me a global
citizen. However, in spite of my own differences in comparison to others, I accept other people’s differences
and I enjoy with them and I have a free will to transform my life in the direction of a true global citizen.
Therefore, let us be global citizens, let’s support equality, differences and similarities between us. Let’s love
each other and respect each other for our virtues and deeds, and let’s turn our lives into a happy ending fairy
tale.

It is not easy to be a global citizen today. A man has always wondered how he was
created, what is the purpose of his existence and who sent him into this world. But, there
was no answer and there will not be any. Not even the science can explain all the natural

There is no perfection in this world. Every man has his own virtues and faults, and they
depend on the man himself. A man’s moral virtues reflect themselves in the ability to help
others, to be there for the others, to be fair towards the others and to show the others that
his virtues make him respectable person. There is a saying in our country:" The more
friends you have the more riches there are in your life.” If you want to keep your friends
you always need to help them, to lend an ear for their problems and try to find their way
out.
However, not all the people are equally tolerant and the same. We need to be tolerant
towards the people who are different than us. We need to respect their wishes and their
ways of behaviour as long as it does not endanger anyone’s interests. I might be one of
those rare people today without prejudices. I have no prejudices when it comes to
religion, race or nationality, because race or colour does not make them good or bad. I
respect differences although they might be extreme, because everyone is entitled to their
own way of living, thinking, dressing and equality. I am a fighter, at least for my causes.
My goal is to finish my studies and get a job. And I believe that every young person should
have the same goal in those hard and critical times. Everybody should fight for their own
goal depending on their own abilities and finances. I like to compete, solo or in a team, I
my primary goal is not always to win. For me, the experiences are those that matter, new
friendships, to travel and see as much as I can. I wish I could travel more, see more...
I would like to see if the world would still be the same in a few year’s time, if something
will change, it some new people will show up, if the science will advance, if the machines
