Outline
The structure for PE at AS Level has a high practical base, whereby students take on the roles
of ’Performer, Leader and Official’ with one of these roles being developed further at A2.
Elsewhere, students will learn about sport, from the grass roots to the elite level and the
development of competitive sport. Healthy lifestyles, fitness and training and preparation for
sports performance are also covered extensively. Students should have a commitment to and
passion for Sport and Physical Education, as well as ideally having club competition experience
in at least one chosen sport.

Physical Education is essential for students wishing to undertake further studies in related
disciplines at University. Students considering careers in Teaching, Coaching, Physiotherapy,
Sports Management, Fitness Instruction, Sports Nutrition, Sports Psychology and Sports
Journalism will find GCE A level Physical Education an excellent base to develop from.
