1 Before Login to the Courses
Firstly, open a new browser window and type the URL (http://elefantc.cvut.cz) of ELefANTC portal.
The language of the web portal you can choose directly by clicking on corresponding national flag
(indicated by the arrow 1).
Now you are able to access our Moodle courses by pressing on the link “Moodle” (indicated by
the arrow 2).

If you choose the link indicated by the arrow 2 you will go to the next screen (see Figure 2) displayed in
the last language used (anyway, you can switch the language later).
To register to the course select one of the links indicated by the arrows 1 and 2. This will lead you
to the possibilities from Figure 3.
On this page, you can also change the language by selecting the button indicated by the arrow 3,
and select another language.

In screen from Figure 3, you have various options (indicated with letters and arrows that will not appear
in the real page):
A → If you already have a username and password, complete these fields and press the Login button.
B → You can access some contents also as a guest, without having to create their own account. The
system warns you if a guest privilege is not sufficient to view individual contents.
C → Maybe you already have a username, but you do not remember your password. If so, press the
button indicated as C, and you will see this screen shown on Figure 4. Fill your username and

e-mail address – you will be sent your password, and you can complete the fields indicated as
A, later.

D → But maybe it is your first time here; then you will have to follow these steps:
Press the button indicated by E arrow or click “New account” and you will see the screen
displayed in Figure 5 (complete the required fields and after that you will come to step 2
explained in Figure 3).
A message will be sent to your e-mail address immediately.
Read your e-mail, and click on the web activation link contains.
Creation of the account will be confirmed, and you will be logged in.
After that you will come to ELefANTC Moodle courses.
Now select the course you want to study.
Now you can access the full course. From now on you will only need to enter your
username and password (in the form described in this page) to log in and access any course
you have enrolled in.

2 After Login – Inside ELefANTC Moodle Courses
2.1 First Steps
You have opened the ELefANTC Moodle courses page using your username and password. What you
will see in the upper right corner will look like this:

This shows your username (in this case “Student En”) and the selected language. In addition, the word
“Logout” is displayed, and if you click it you will leave Moodle.
If you click your username you will see your personal profile:

After clicking “Edit profile” (above) you can enter or modify information about yourself (first name,
surname, e-mail, location, country…). You can also perform other actions (like Change password) after
clicking the appropriate labels and buttons.

In the first screen after login you will see also this:

It is your first time here or you are not enrolled in any course. Now you can:
A → Choose one of the courses that you can see in your selected language to enroll in.
B → Read basic information with a brief explanation and description of the objectives of individual
modules, as shown in Figure 9.
C → Search the basic details of the modules in each of the courses in all languages. You can search
for multiple words at once in the form word (find any match of this word within the text),
+word (only exact matching words will be found), –word (don't include results containing
this word).

In addition, if you change the language you can see the courses available in this new language, like in the
beginning with your selected language.
2.2 Enroll to the one or More Courses/modules
First of all, you have to choose your course/module. Click on one of the available modules inside
available curse courses (click on the link A from Figure 8) and you will see this image (Figure 10):

If Yes is clicked, you will be enrolled to the course and go right to it. Then you will see the main page of
this course, like in Figure 11.

2.3 Accessing your Course/module
You have to be already enrolled to a module when you are trying to access it; if not, the system will ask
you if you want to take it, as we could see before.
You have two options to access the modules:
By selecting a module that has been registered before (click on links A from Figure 8). After that
the list of its individual themes inside registered modules appears, as shown in Figure 11 that can
be selected.
Through the selection of active modules in the student's personal profile, as shown in Figure 12:

The red Arrow 2 shows an optional field “Jump to ...” where it is possible to select individual topics of
the active module.

When you select the desired theme on one of the methods described, a page with chosen content will
open.
2.3.1 Basic Navigation
There are several ways to move through the course (or, more precisely, through one module of the
course).
One way is through the internal navigation bar as shown on Figure 13.

ELefANTC: clicking on this will take you to the screen which displays the courses on the site in
the selected language (see Figure 2).
“Module 3 – Sensors”: this is the name for this course; clicking on it will take you to the course
home page as shown on Figure 11.
“Introduction”: this is the current page (topic) of module, where you are.
This is only one example of how the navigation bar may appear. Keep an eye on this as you navigate
through the course; you will notice that it changes to reflect your current position. When you are in a
course activity, you can move to another activity or resource within the course:

Clicking on “Jump to …” in the pull-down menu (above) will allow you to select from the
complete list, in topic order, and navigate directly to your selection. The Next (>) and Previous (<)
buttons will take you back and forward between the activities and resources in the order in which
they appear.
Finally, it is possible to navigate between pages by using the navigation buttons of your web
browser, but this is not recommended.
Here you can, by clicking on the corresponding flag, also the language of the material. The system
requires that for each language in which the material will be read, register to the module in the
manner described in section 2.2.

2.3.2 Course View (Module View)
The course content area is in the centre of the course main window. It is in this area where your teacher
will place the materials that make up the online elements of your course.
2.3.2.1 Topic outline
Index: as you can see in the image, inside a specific course you can choose from different parts of the
course. Each part is a resource.

Resources: each resource will be a text and something more; for example, if you click to one of them:

You can see text explaining the topic and one image illustrating it.
You can find courses with more multimedia content, for example:

If you click on one of the numbers on the right, you can change the displayed image.

In some pages there are more photographs. You can control their viewing using the buttons marked with
red arrows.
A → Number of the photograph
B → One photograph back
C → Jump to the beginning of the series
D → Automatic viewing (“slideshow”)
E → Jump to the end of the series
F → One photograph forward
Finally, in some cases you can see the image in a larger resolution (with more details).
2.3.3 Examinations
Examination is carried out in the two ways.
The ongoing tests in the form of quizzes, which are located at the end of each topic within the
selected module, as shown in Figure 23.
The final test at the end of each module in the form of writings.

2.4 Editing your Profile
As we said in the First Steps section, you can edit your profile whenever you want. You can make it as we
describe above, but the easiest way is to click on “Editing your profile” in the Administration section or in
a manner that was described in Section 2.1. After that you will see Figure 24. There are several tabs,
which can be used to view and edit your user profile, view and publicize on the user forums and view
their grades.

2.4.1 Profile
In this tab are visible basic information on the participant and their courses/modules which are registered.
In the bottom of this window, we have an opportunity to “Jump to” the field in the currently
selected active object (module).
Change of the user password is possible by pressing the “Change Password”. A new window
opens (Figure 25) in which first we enter the current password and then new password twice. The
change must be confirmed.

By pressing on the button “Messages” you have access to the list of contacts with other users, and
search the forums (see Figure 27). The search engine can search users by name or keyword in the
message, as shown in Figure 27. Figure 28 shows a tab with the settings, how the user-
environment responds to messages, sent to us by other users.

2.4.2 Edit profile
If you wish so, you can modify the details of your profile using tab “Edit profile” In the Figures 29a and
29b you can see the items that have to be completed (mandatory fields marked by red text and *) and
other fields that are optional. Also, after this, in the same page there are other optional fields that may be
completed or left empty. Changes in the profile must be confirmed by pressing the “Update profile”
button.

2.4.3 Publishing on forums
On this tab you can track forum posts and discussions with other users.

In this tab you can review achieved grades or begin with performing of test if not performed yet.

2.5 Multimedia Dictionary
On the Moodle ELefANTC Course categories page shown in Figure 35, you will find Multimedia
dictionary tool.

Multimedia dictionary activates by pressing the link that indicates the red arrow in Figure 35. A new
dictionary window opens, as shown in Figure 36. This tool provides you with access to the databases of
English technical terms and their 8 national translations used inside courses developed in a framework of
the Leonardo ELefANTC project.

The meaning of individual objects on dictionary page is:
Field “Search text” – Use this field to type here your search text, word or text string.
Button “Simple search” – By using of this button you get first 10 terms starting with entered
search string or just 10 next terms following entered search string.
Button “Enhanced search” – By using of this button you get all terms which contain entered
search string.
Field “Results” – This field will contain all found terms which comply with search criteria.
Default language is set to English. You can change the actual language by setting of combobox
“Language”. There are 8 languages available (English, French, German, Czech, Slovak, Slovenian, Polish
and Spanish). When you change the actual language all object labels/titles are converted into national
version and searching process is performed in language chosen as well.
If you want to see some term from the list of terms placed in the field “Results” with all national
translations just click on it in that field and this term and all its national translations will be filled in to the
text fields situated under the field “Results”. That means, e.g. Polish translation you can find in this field:

You can also listen to pronunciation of any technical term Use this button and corresponding
language version of the tam will be played.
On the right side of window you can also find field “Search history”. Each one term that is clicked in the
field “Results” is inserted at the end of field “Search history”. So, user can see history of searched terms
and whenever retrieve any term of them. List of all terms in history can be removed by using of this red
button .
Use this button: to see help.
