    1. The post contained in this circular is vacant and is advertised internally & externally for appointment
       purpose. The said posts will appear in the news papers on 2011-10-30/ 31. The contents of this circular
       will also be available on the SAPS intranet.


    2. The generic minimum requirements applicable to the post (MMS), are as follows:

         • Competency in the post specific core function and proven managerial experience in the field of the
        advertised post. • Grade 12/Senior Certificate or equivalent NQF 4 qualifications is compulsory. • Fluent in
        two of the official languages, of which one must be English. • A valid light motor vehicle driver’s license.
         • Applicants with relevant courses in the environment of the post will receive preference. • Good
        interpersonal relations and organizing skills. • Knowledge of Police policies, procedures and priorities.

the organization. • The execution of exhibitions in the Province. • The co-ordination of Event Management & Protocol in

internal projects in the Province.

Additional requirements: • Relevant NQF6 or NQF5 qualification from an accredited tertiary institution, i.e. Unisa, Royal
Schools, Trinity College, etc. in conducting, orchestration and arranging of music. • Or IDMAC / ISMF Director of Music
qualification. • Have at least five (5) years experience in the Military Band environment as a Band Master.
Core function: • Assumes command and control over the Provincial Band. • Promote camaraderie, morale and esprit de
corps by encouraging the employees of the SAPS to develop an appreciation for the universal language of music.
• Initiate and participate in projects to promote a positive relationship between the SAPS and the Communities. • Maintain
and enhance relations between the SAPS and other Government Departments at all levels, both Nationally and
Internationally, as well as the private sector. • Market the image of the SAPS internally and externally through the medium

type correspondence in a WordPerfect/MS word format. • Competence in MS PowerPoint and Excel. • Ability to display
competence in the post-specific and practical experience in the core function of the advertised post will be an added
advantage. • Good interpersonal relations and organizing skills. • Fluent in at least two of the official languages, of which
one must be English.
Core Function: • Answer telephones. • Make appointments. • Keep the diary up to date. • Organize meetings and trips
for the supervisor. • All general and related secretarial functions.



        5. GENERAL:

The above posts are in the Eastern Cape Province within the South African Police Service. Only the new SAPS
application employment form will be accepted. The application form will be available from all Police Stations and the
SAPS website-www.saps.gov.za. The said application form replaces the previous official Z83 application form for the
SAPS. All instructions on the application form must be adhered to; failure to do so may result in the rejection of the
application. The post particulars and reference number of the post must be correctly specified on the application form.
A comprehensive Curriculum Vita must be submitted together with the application form. Certified copies of an
applicant’s ID document, motor vehicle driver’s licence (Police Act appointment), and all educational qualifications
obtained together with academic records thereof and service certificates of previous employers stating the occupation,
must also be submitted and attached to every application. Persons who retired from the Public Service by taking a
severance package, early retirement or for medical reasons, as well as persons with previous convictions, are
excluded. Applications must be mailed well in the time limit. Late applications will not be accepted or considered. The
closing date for the application is 2011-11-06. If a candidate is short-listed, it can be expected of him/her to undergo a
personal interview. Short-listed candidates will have to submit one set of fingerprints. The South African Police Service
will verify the residential address and qualifications of applicants, as well as citizenship. Reference checking will be
conducted on all short listed applicants. Candidates short-listed for appointment to certain identified posts will be
vetted in terms of the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences and related Matters) Amendment Act, 2007 (Act No 32 of 2007)
and the children’s Act, 2005 (Act No 38 of 2005). A candidate, whose particulars appear in either the National Register
of Sex Offenders or Part B of the Child Protection Register, will be disqualified from appointment to the post Applicants
