UNIVERSO KUBERNETES 01 of 22 Introduction.- Universo Kubernetes means
the universe of man as the pilot of his own destiny. Cybernetics has given us
many technological marvels. It has also given us a different way of making
science and looking at the world. This introduction prepares us for a long
journey that among other things will try to reconcile religion and science and
government. You'll need 2 hrs and 40 minutes to watch the whole video. Here I
start highlighting the importance of the observer. Thanks to technology and an
I-phone or an internet connection each one of us has become the center of the
Universe once again. Stafford Beer's ideas are a very important source for this
way of thinking. UNIVERSO KUBERNETES will change your life; it is meant to
do so.

UNIVERSO KUBERNETES 02 of 22 Index- & Chapter I. This part covers the
origin of Cybernetics and the technological marvels that have been built on its
knowledge. The Fathers of Cybernetics and the Macy Foundation Group. Some
call these meetings the Big Bang of the Information Era.

UNIVERSO KUBERNETES 03 of 22 Chapters 2 & 3. The Big Questions are
asked. Who is man? What is our purpose? Does God exist? and others. The role
of models and the levels of language needed to answer the questions.
Discarding old maps.

UNIVERSO KUBERNETES 04 of 22 Chapter 4. How science evolved from the
Greeks to the present and became part of who we are and how we see the
world.

Universo KUBERNETES 05 of 22 Chapter 5.- What is Cybernetics? Different
definitions and how it became the biggest chunk in the apple of knowledge.

Universo KUBERNETES 06 of 22 Chapter 6.- Great thinkers have given us
more than hints on what the important questions are. The Universe surprises
us with structures that repeat themselves from the macro to the micro level. A
duality is created that requires very different ways of thinking according to
Descartes. This duality carries on till this day. Chaos Theory enters the picture
as vortices appear everywhere. Cybernetics provides the lens to see what
Newton could not have seen.

Universo KUBERNETES 07 of 22 Chapter 7.- The first steps to uncover the
Miracle of life are taken. The miracle of life is an understatement. Vortices are
defined and then living vortices are given their attributes. The first four
characteristics are carefully explained as examples are given. This starts the
foundation of the rest of the thesis. Homeostasis is introduced as a key
concept. Even large human organizations share the same structural
descriptions.

Universo KUBERNETES 08 of 22 Chapter 8.- Complex adaptive systems are
examined. They have an important role to play in evolution and adaptation. The
Santa Fe Institute has led the way in this field. Some of its scientists have made
enormous contributions to different fields using this perspective. John Von
Neumann of the Macy Group had noticed the importance of self-organization.

Universo KUBERNETES 09 of 22 Chapter 9.- Chaos Theory is explained briefly
because life is possible only at the border of chaos a very narrow region where
information can acheive control to counteract entropy. The butterfly effect is
part of chaos theory. Chaos is recursive too, depending on the level of
organization we are talking about.

Universo KUBERNETES 10 of 22 Chapter 10.- Life exits between
thermodynamic chaos and cold death. Many factors contribute to the miracle of
life on Earth. Several key numbers in the way the universe came to existence
appear to be fine tuned for life. See how lucky we are.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jtovYUxPTFI
Universo KUBERNETES 11 of 22 Chapter 11.- Strange Attractors. Going deeper
into Chaos Theory we talk about strange attractors, patterns that tend to repeat
themselves as if having some self adjusting force behind them. Life and every
organ in our body, as well as corporations are strange attractors.

Universo KUBERNETES 12 of 22 Chapter 12.- Recursive processes are nature's
trick for creating great complexity. All forms of organizations are recursive.
These structure repeat themselves at many different levels from the cell to the
State, including corporations.

Universo KUBERNETES 13 of 22 Chapter 13.- The Viable System Model.-
Stafford Beer's Viable System Model describes systems capable of an
independent existence. It is a recursive model that features many cybernetic
ideas at the same time. It is basic in the understanding of societies and men. It
solves many problems that cannot be solved through the traditional
organization tree. One more piece in our puzzle.

Universo KUBERNETES 14 of 22 Chapter 14.- Identity.- This is the seventh
and last feature of the living vortex. Identity controls behavior. "It's what I do
that defines me", says Batman in the example chosen. The Viable System
postulates that identity is the highest language level for a person or
organization. The Lone Ranger is another example used to explain how this
works. Personal success is the management of the different operations which
are a combination defined by identity.

Universo KUBERNETES 15 of 22 Chapter 15.- Purpose. We are now in the third
section of the Video called TRANSCENDENCE. Systems have purposes, but
given the complexity the purpose of a system is what the system DOES. This is
Beer's definition, very practical. This idea reinforces the notion that control
must be designed into the system and cannot be exerted from the outside. Very
powerful stuff.

Universo KUBERNETES 16 of 22 Chapter 16A.- Emergence. Science comes
from a greek root that implies dividing or cutting into pieces which is the
traditional approach to science. Systems looks at integration, and takes a
holistic view of things related to each other. Emergence is what results when a
system comes together. The parts produce something not expected from any of
the parts. Key concept.

Universo KUBERNETES 17 of 22 Chapter 16B.- Elvis (Emergence/ Second
part) The music of Elvis Presley and Elvis are used as an example of meme
replication. Memes are information packages that are stored in brains and are
copied from one person to another. This explains why the human brain could
lock into a much faster evolution and grew much bigger in size and processing
capacity. A virtuous circle was formed which explains paying the high price of
energy consumption by the brain.

Universo KUBERNETES 18 of 22 Chapter 17A.- The Emergent God. How the
idea of God has evolved and its connection to viable systems such a people and
the State itself. We are now in the thick of things. Religion is an effective
instrument of social control based solely on the power of information and a
brain willing to accept a notion of necessary order. There is a DNA inherited
predisposition for religion.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGmtqSt6alw
Universo KUBERNETES 19 of 22 Chapter 17B.- The Bible (The Emergent God,
continued) The pieces of the puzzle start falling in place. Amazingly the Bible
has perfectly recursive structure. The New Testament is also very cybernetic as
it is shown to follow the Viable System Model. (Maybe it was the other way
around.) A sight to see.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PaNmv3O0qbU
Universo KUBERNETES 20 of 22 Chapter 17E. -Rivalry- (The Emergent God,
continued) The rivalry between Science and Religion finds an explanation and
at the same time a solution. The Emergent God is a necessary connection
between the Immanent God and the Transcendent God. The hemispheres of the
brain play an important part in the religious connection. A scientist narrates
what it feels to be connected to the universe.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWUbcEOySlc
Universo KUBERNETES 21 of 22 Chapter 17D.- God's image. (The Emergent
God, continued) Man built on god's image makes perfect sense given that all
humans are built exactly the same way as the rest of the Universe. Richard
Dawkins and Susan Blackmore deny the existence of God. Depends on how you
define God. Man plays a role in the new definition. We are ready for the final
last chapter and the answers to the eternal questions.

Universo KUBERNETES 22 of 22 Chapter 18.- The Answers. One by one the
tough questions are addressed using the knowledge gained with our special
lens of Cybernetics and Chaos Theory. Perhaps many will stil not be satisfied
but it is a huge leap based on the best knowledge available, not entirely
speculation.
