by Crystal Hess
Uploading a Picture
1. On a page that you want to add a picture, click the mountain with a sun icon:
2. Choose your picture from your previously uploaded pictures toolbar or upload a new picture
by clicking on the browse button:
3. Then add the image and press OK.
Uploading an entire gallery (like for a field trip or special event)
1. Make sure all students you are uploading pictures of have turned in their electronic
permission form.
2. Make a folder of all the pictures you want to upload.
3. Right click on that folder and “Send To” a “Compressed Zipped Folder”
4. This will compress all your pictures into one folder (notice the zipper):
5. Open the Image Gallery section of your SWIFT site.
6. Create a new album:
7. When you have to choose what pictures to upload, browse for and choose your zipped folder
(it will end with .zip and have a picture of a zipper on it) instead of each picture individually:
8. This will upload ALL the pictures in that zipped folder. It make take a few minutes
depending on files sizes.
9. Be sure to SAVE CHANGES!
Add a web link
1. Type in the text that you want to make a link
2. Highlight the text
3. Click the chain link icon:
4. Type in the website you want to link to (or copy and paste this from a different window):
5. (Optional) To open the link in a different window (instead of the link overtaking the page you
are on), change the “Target” option to “New Window”
6. Click OK.
Discussion Board
1. Go to the “Profile” page and make sure that the discussion board is turned on (Save Changes).
2. Start a new thread by typing in the thread question and any supplemental information you’d
like to include (you may include pictures or links to websites or documents, etc):
3. Choose if you want to moderate the thread or not. If you choose to moderate, you will need to
approve each post before it actually appears on your page.
4. Now students will be able to go to your post and respond:
5. Again, if moderation is on, you will have to moderate comments through.
From your SWIFT editing view, you will be able to see what posts need to be moderated
through and decide to approve them or delete them:
