PRIME FUNCTION:
Under administrative direction, performs work of considerable difficulty. Provides coordination of computer
services, instructional design, public relations and strategic media, and institutional analysis. Assists in the
overall planning, management and development of information systems. Provides leadership, vision and
direction in the administration of Information Systems (IS).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directs strategic planning of IS related service for the college, including planning, implementing,
delivering and evaluating IS solutions and services for reporting units to ensure consistency with the
division, campus and university mission and goals.
Performs or facilitates needs assessment (formal and informal), analyzes results and implements
changes.
Directs all IS services for the college including computer services for faculty, staff, and students; data
systems related to academic programs and functions; IS support for the development and delivery of
online courses and degrees programs; college web services including communication about academic
programs, faculty, research, marketing, alumni, and development; as well as public relations and
strategic media services.
Analyzes data and writes reports to disseminate information to appropriate external and university
audiences.
Provides IS related services and support for special projects and initiatives .
Supervises, hires, trains, mentors and evaluates assigned professional and support staff, directly and
through subordinates, to ensure high performance and effective operations.
Provides consultative services within the college related to various IT needs and solutions.
Provides divisional leadership for specified functions and special projects, including the supervision of
the coordination of service requiring cross-unit collaboration.
Oversees and recommends operating and personal services budgets and monitors expenditures for
all assigned functions; administers unit revenue accounts; oversees the preparation of financial
reports, statements, records and statistical reports and provides oversight in the preparation of
proposals to external funding sources.
Responsible for various research projects and related program evaluation, as assigned.
Works with university, campus, and college administrators and faculty to implement the dean’s
strategic agenda, as it relates to the college.
Represents Information Systems through attendance and active participation at college, campus,
university and off-campus committees, events and programs.

Interacts and maintains liaison with students, faculty, staff and community agencies in facilitating a
wide range of program objectives.
Supports the dean/college in other areas as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of administrative, financial, and business planning principles, implementation and
practices.
Knowlegde of program development, implementation, and evaluation.
Knowledge in research design, methodologies/statistics, evaluation, and delivery of support services.
Knowledge of data management and information technologies.
Knowledge in planning, analyzing, and coordinating activities and managing multiple projects.
Knowledge of long and short-range planning and prioritizing.
Skill in developing and maintaining effective working relationships and managing effective work
teams.
Skill in effectively managing, supervising, and evaluating assigned staff.
Skill in analyzing issues and developing appropriate solutions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or in a field appropriate to the area of
assignment AND five (5) years of related administrative experience managing information technologies
and data systems, which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR,
Any equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and
abilities have been achieved.
