Proposal for hosting of the ITU-T 2nd FG IPTV Meeting and IPTV Technical Workshop
In the last consultation meeting which was held in April, we made a consensus to organize the Focus Group, and according to the result, the first FG IPTV meeting is being held in Geneva. We think this meeting is very meaningful and important to develop global IPTV standards and we can achieve a good result through this ITU-T FG IPTV. Korea would like to participate very actively in this meeting. Therefore, on the behalf of the Ministry of Information and Communication of the Republic of Korea, and the ITU-T IPTV Global Technical Workshop as follows, 1) ITU-T IPTV FG - Meeting Venue : Lotte Hotel, Busan, Korea - Meeting date : 16-20 October, 2006 - Host : KT, Samsung Electronics, IPTV Forum Korea, TTA 2) ITU-T IPTV Global Technical Workshop - Venue : Imperial Palace Hotel, Seoul, Korea - Meeting date : 12-13 October, 2006 - Host : KT, Samsung Electronics, IPTV Forum Korea, TTA ** to be provided technical exhibition. Electricity
The standard supply is 220 volts with AC/60 cycles. Outlets for 220 volts are available at the hotels. The two following outlets are compatible with those available in Korea. a) It is popularly known as the europlug which is described in CEE 7/16
b) This plug is similar to the above except that it is round and has the addition of two grounding clips on the side of the plug

Business Hours
Government offices are open from Monday to Friday between the hours of 09:00 and 18:00. Most private businesses open anywhere from 08:30 to 10:00 and close in the evening. Banks are a major exception. Their business hours are from 09:30 to 16:30 on weekdays. They are closed Saturdays and Sundays. Foreign diplomatic missions in Seoul generally maintain strict business hours including lunch. They are usually open from 09:00 to 17:00 on weekdays and are closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Major departments stores are usually open from 10:30 to 20:00, including Sundays, but smaller shops tend to be open earlier and close later every day of the week
Automated Teller Machines (ATM) for Foreign Travellers
Travellers who carry internationally recognized credit cards can get a cash advance in Korean won at Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) installed at airports, major hotels, department stores, subway stations and tourist attractions.
Tipping
Tipping is not a traditional Korea custom. A 10% service charge is added to your bill at all tourist hotels and 3-10% at some big restaurants.

Tax
Value-added tax (VAT) is levied on most goods and services at a standard rate of 10% and is included in the retail price. In tourist hotels, this 10% tax applies to meals and other services and is added into the bill.

Newspaper, TV and Radio
There are three English-language dailies, the Korea Times, the Korea Herald, and the International Herald Tribune Joongang Daily. They are available at most news stands and in most hotel gift shops. Korea has fine TV networks, all broadcasting in Korean (KBS1, KBS2, MBC, SBS, and EBS). Along with the national broadcasting networks, there are also many cable TV channels specializing in a wide field of programming including news, movies, entertainment, sports, etc. Of note is Arirang TV, a special English channel produced in Korea (cable channel #12). The channel features programming in politics, the economy, community, and culture, providing insight and understanding about things Korean through popular TV serial dramas with English subtitles. Some 90 hotels in Korea offer Arirang TV on cable or satellite.

Route III : Incheon Int’l Airport (Seoul) to Gimhae Airport (Busan) via Gimpo Airport (Seoul) Another way to get to Gimhae Airport is to pass through the Gimpo Airport. Please, keep in mind that Gimpo Airport is located in Seoul. Please, buy the Limousine Bus ticket at the airport reception desks (fare: 6,000 won) and then, take the Limousine Bus for Gimpo Airport at the bus stop 3B and 10B in front of Gate 3, 10 on the 1st floor. The bus ride to Gimpo Airport takes about 30 minutes and it runs from 05:00 a.m. to 20:30 p.m. every 5 –10 minutes. At Gimpo Airport, you can transfer to Gimhae Airport, your final destination. The distance between airport to Busan Lotte Hetel is about 13km and it takes about 20 minutes by taxi. Only Korean currency (Won) can be used for all transportation. Transportation
Incheon International Airport handles flights from all over the world. Built on an extensive area of reclaimed tidal land between two islands, Incheon International Airport is 52 km east of downtown Seoul and some 15 km off the west coast of Incheon. It operates 24 hours a day. The airport code for Incheon International Airport (IIA) is ICN. Passengers arriving at Incheon will need to take a shuttle (limousine) bus from the airport to downtown Seoul. The distance between airport to Imperial Palace Hotel is about 50km and it takes about 60 minutes by taxi. Only Korean currency (Won) can be used for all transportation.

Agenda for IPTV Workshop Program
(Subject: Global Vision of IPTV) 12 – 13 October 2006 Korea
Broadband connectivity with NGN capabilities provide crucial infrastructure for various types of multimedia services which is being developed as target services for a long time. IP connectivity over the broadband infrastructure with NGN capabilities such as guarantees QoS and secures security would quite well support of important multimedia services such as streaming of videos and TV programs etc. Now IPTV become important subject not only from these technical Enovation point of view but also convergence between traditional telecommunication and broadcasting aspects. Convergence need a lot of supports in various view points; technical support, politics and regulatory supports, business and service support and network and terminal supports etc. An advantage of IPTV could be used already deployed global IP connectivity would be used a framework of globalize IPTV environments. This workshop will review, exam and investigate IPTV related important issues for targeting “Globalize IPTV” such as political and regulatory aspects, business models and various case studies as well as technical developments and provider‟s operational aspects.
