On the kind invitation of the Government of Cameroon and Cameroon’s Telecommunications

Regulatory Board (ART), the 7th Forum on Telecommunications Regulation in Africa (FTRA-

2006), on the theme "IP Networks and Related Services: Challenges for African Regulators", will

be held in Yaoundé, Cameroon, from 7 to 8 June 2006.



On behalf of the Telecommunication Development Bureau and that of Dr. Salomao Julio

MANHIÇA, the current Chairman of the African Telecommunications Regulators' Network, I have

the pleasure of inviting you to the above-mentioned event.



This event that is being held just after the fourth World Telecommunication Development Conference

held in DOHA (QATAR) from 7-15 March 2006 will include deliberations on the conclusions of the

said Conference, exchange of views and experiences by ITU Members, and regional and international

organizations on issues related to the situation in Africa. High on the agenda for the FTRA-2006 will

be the need to draw up strategies for promoting more direct investment into the ICT sector.



Contributions on the above-mentioned theme will be welcome and should be forwarded in soft copy to

Mrs Fikirte Tsegaye and Mrs Brigitte Kaptue, e-mail: fikirte.tsegaye@itu.int and

Brigitte.kaptue@itu.int. In addition, in order to facilitate the preparation of this meeting, please fill out

GENERAL INFORMATION



Venue of Meetings :

The Forum on Telecommunications Regulation in Africa (FTRA- 2006) will be held at the

Palais de Congrès de Yaoundé on 7 and 8 June 2006.



Registration

Registration of all participants will take place at the meeting venue:

- on 6 June 2006 from 16h00–19h00 and on 7 June 2006 from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. for the FTRA.



Working Languages

The working languages will be English and French with simultaneous interpretation.



Entry visas

An entry visa in a valid passport is required to enter Cameroon. Delegates are requested to

obtain entry visas from the Cameroon Embassy or Consulate in their respective countries,

before leaving.



Delegates from countries with no Cameroonian diplomatic representation are requested to

send copies of the first three pages of their passport to the address below before their

departure, in order to enable the Telecommunications Regulatory Board (ART) of Cameroon to

make the necessary arrangements to secure them an entry visa upon their arrival in

Cameroon.

Climate

Generally, the weather in Yaounde is warm and wet in the month of June. Temperatures vary

between 25 and 31°.



Transportation

There will be a bus service to shuttle delegates from the airport to their hotels as well as from

the hotels listed below to the venue of the meeting.



Currency

Cameroon’s official currency is the CFA Franc with the following exchange rates:

1 USD = 542.476 F CFA (United Nations rate);

1 Euro = 655.957 F CFA (Fixed rate).



Electricity

The electricity voltage is 220 volts / 50 Hz.
