Online Job Applications have revolutionized the process of applying for a job. The traditional job application

process requires the candidates to collect the application form from the company, fill it out, drop it off and wait for

the results. This is a tiresome process, especially if the candidate has to apply to multiple job providers. But this

situation has drastically changed in recent years. The job application process can be of three types.





The job application that is sent over the internet is the most common type. Such applications are similar to the

paper ones and require the candidate to fill out information such as name, phone number, address, job history,

schooling etc. Once the various fields have been filled, the candidate can submit it with a single click. The second

type of online job application involves printing out the form. An electronic version of the job application will be

provided on the website. The candidate has to fill out the form online and then take a print out of it. This hard

copy should be sent to the company via post. In some cases, the form has to be filled out by hand. Hence those

who do not have good typing skills are benefited. Such applications are usually seen while applying for

government related jobs as it requires a legal signature in the applicant’s own handwriting.

Finally, the applicant can send his or her resume along with a cover letter to the company. All basic information

will be provided in the resume. The online portfolios of most companies have a provision for posting a resume.

Online applications are highly preferred by employers due to the savings in time. They do not have to go through

hundreds of resumes or wait for the mail to arrive. The process of weeding out ineligible applicants is

considerably easier when doing it online. The applicants can also do research on the company and make the

application more appealing. They can spend more time on the application. Some online companies provide the

applicant with a username and password so they can come back to the application, if required.





The job application process has revolutionized the hiring process. Applicants are better off spending 15 minutes

filling out the online application than attending hour long interviews. Only the top contenders will be asked to

come for the interview. Thus the employer can select the best person for the job.
